Religions are complicating the world separating us and creating differences. Why don't we eliminate them from the world and just believe in God, only having the basic and general doctrines.

Like someone said, neither religion is "safe", and I don't think that God is going to discriminate us for our religion, and only is going to take away certain group of people. How do I know if I am in the correct path, if all the million of religions in this word say they are correct?

I believe that by just believing in God and doing good is enough to be saved.

You can believe that, but on what basis do you know that is the truth? The problem is that you can believe anything you want but if it's not true then are you willing to put your life on the line with it? No. If I believe just being good is enough but have no way of knowing whether that's true or not, I want to find out I was right ASAP, and not when I die and end up in hell.

Yes, there are a lot of religions, and yes, there are much in the way of differences. And yes, why don't we all just believe in the same God and have some unity? Well, here's the rub. There can only be one truth, and we have to be sure of that first.

How do we know? It's quite easy really, yet so many have started from the wrong end of the stick. We cannot find out by our own searching - how many people have decided by trying to look for themselves and trying this or that, or researching this or that argument to the nth degree, only to be more confused than ever?

The answer is - ask the real God to show himself. If the real God is out there, then all you need to do is ask him to let you know and cut through all the fog of so-called knowledge and searching. You save a lot of time that way, and if anyone asks with a heart hunger for the real God to show himself, he will. The bible says that "you will seek me and find me when you seek with all your heart", and "call to me and I will answer you".

You will know the real God when he speaks to you, and the voice will be His. he's not an idea, a set of rules, a philosophy, a genie or a program or strategy or organisation - he's a person. When you begin to relate to a personal God, then the arguments can be dropped - all there is is to choose to believe and accept the gift of life with Him.

Now to having unity. If anyone has the right belief, you just can't make everyone believe, that would be brainwashing or programming, and you won't have people believing in it to the heart. The best way to bring people to the same place you are with a personal God is to show people by your normal way of life that God has changed you, is changing you and making a supernatural difference in your life. Then people will be drawn to you and that something that God puts into you, and people's hearts can be changed. Only when you have people's hearts turn out of their own desire and choosing do you really have them.

This means your way will overcome anything opposition throws at it. You will show by your life that you are for real, or you will lose out to the world's ways and you will prove not to be with the better way. Jesus lived a generous, supernatural, righteous and powerful life - a life that was for real and he proved it by the way he died - selflessly and for our sake, without hate, without anything but love and forgiveness. And that one life has changed countless others through showing that here was something that was real, powerful and for you.

So from experience I say that you've got to be sure about which God you're following and you've got to make sure now - don't be misled by what you think God is and find out the hard way when your life is nearly over or over and in the eternal part. And I know from the way God has revealed himself to me and speaks to me today that the God of Jesus is the true one. When you have an encounter with a real and personal, loving God, then you need look nowhere else. Read John 3:16 or thereabouts in the bible and find out how.

First of all, what one religion calls God is often not the same as what another religion calls God. Some religions are also polytheistic having multiple gods.

There are female gods, male gods, ambiguous gods, several gods, no gods, animal gods. There are so many different religions, each having different beliefs associated with their god (or gods) as one in the same. For example, I don't think you could tell a Christian to stop believing Jesus is the son of god...and you couldn't tell a Jew to start believing Jesus is the son of god.

I think if we as humans were more accepting of people having their own beliefs and did not put our own religion on a pedestal as the only "true religion" then the world would be better off. It is not religious differences that causes strife, it's humans who think their religion is better than another, I guess you could call that "religism"

Religion is based on belief and faith. If you believe you are on the correct path, then perhaps you are! If you have doubts, then maybe you should explore your beliefs more.

Quit trying to make things easier and simpler. Can't you see that the next step in making things easier and simpler would just be to get rid of the idea of God? How will you feel then, knowing that you are the one who started a movement to eliminate God? You'll probably feel sorry, because you seem like a nice person. What you should be doing is founding a new religion so that there will be even more religions in the world. But not in Kentucky. That's my brother-in-law's territory.

By definition, belief in god IS religion. So, even if "eliminate all these religions, and just believe in god"... you've still got religion. The only way to get RID of religion is to get rid of belief in god. I agree with that. Go for it. The world would be a much better place for it.

I think all religions want everyone to go alone with them. But, since everyone has their own minds and belief there is no way to eliminate other religions and just believe in God. We can go out and try to persuade everyone God is the only one but you got stubborn people who are not going to change.

cuz thats just being selfish and close-minded. im not muslim but what if one muslim did come up and say "why dont we just erase all religions and believe in ala"? same sh*t
what you gotta do is stop occupying your free time trying to figure out and or resolve other ppls life and enjoy yours, you are definetley way too busy thinking about "i have to be saved, god will save us all" etc, why dont you just look at life from another perspective huh? why not take a change and stop worrying so much? besides, muslims are ppl too, and so are christians and budhists and all other religious ppl...yup, still ppl, still deserve human rights, still deserve a right to speak and you know not all ppl have a same opinion, what we gotta do is just accept the others opinion, aprecciate it for being different, and move on!
geez, enjoy life! its too short

That's a great idea, religions always result in war, so lets just create one unified religion. Of course there will always be those who disagree, but hey, we could just inprison them, or even kill them if they won't come quitely, and try to convert them to our simpler religion.

Actually hmm, maybe it's better just to accept the differences and make sure no one does anything bad?

This is the kind of questions I love to answer, you are right, thou, and because do my research, I should said that because of the Crucifixion of Jesus and his death, God decide that in memory of his Son man's not only will need to worship him but also follow in his foot steps, and prey to HIM. Despite that to my knowledge Jesus wasn't suppose too, die in the cross and suffer so much just to prove that he was the Son of God. and although all of this happen and there is nothing we can yet do to erase from Humanity, such an animal way of man to behaved.
The reason than this happen is that there are negative energies that were to become only to follow the forces of Evil, Others just to follow God, to become positived, for whom Jesus sacrifice HIM-self, thou positived or negative, religion the true religion which is the one you just mention we all need to practice to help Jesus to carrie his cross<<>>>...
