Just because it can be played backwords and you get a 'mouh ushla gootul' sounding sentance doesnt mean its satan worship. To prove my point I played christian music backwords and got the same thing. Why do people always say heavy metal is evil?
No I do not like heavy metal music.

Heh,
That one has been around for a while. Um, I don’t know how to play a CD backwards, do you? I think you are showing your age.
Anyway, back to your question.
The charge was against the Rolling Stones. My reply was “Big deal. When you play the damned thing FORWARDS you get satanic lyrics”
The other one I loved was someone that wrote that the band name AC/DC hinted at homosexuality. This was at the time that “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheep” came out.
OK, we have a song about murder for hire, another one about teen sex, and another one about juvenile delinquency on the album. And you are worried about the band name you freaking idiot?
And yeah, I am showing my age too.
Peace my friend.

I think because some heavy metal bands really do have a satanic or occult image, some people label ALL heavy metal music as satanic..It's just narrow minded like when someone say that "dancing is sin" or "drums are from hell"; even though dancing and music according to the Bible are good and valuable things.
There are many heavy metal bands that are christian also.

People who like heavy metal may not be devil worshippers, but I think heavy metal technically is satanic. I've heard that Satan distorted the sounds of God's music in the temple since back in Old Testament times and has been doing it all the way until our time and it makes sense when you hear today's music with the distortion sounds. So therefore it can be considered "satanic" but that doesn't mean necessarily mean people who like it worship the devil. But God knows the hearts of people, those that will follow Him. Have a nice day. God Bless

I think that since there ARE bands that use lyrics that talk about "deny your maker" and other similar acts that is what gives HM a Satanic feel.
Unfortunately since it is easy to stereotype things, most bands get grouped n with those that are dark, and have anti-christion symbols.
I bet if a person didn't know P.O.D. was a Christian band but heard them play they would be grouped with "typical" HM bands.
As the saying goes..."One bad apple can spoil the bunch"

A lot of early heavy metal groups had strong ties to satanism and the occult. This was reflected in their music.

Because many people have a stereotypical reaction to loud noises and the type of singing that heavy metal musicians use -- it sounds like what they've always believed was the devil. It's just people's bigotry and closed-mindedness.

I think it's because the way heavy metal musicians present themselves. The dark make up, clothes, etc. It's also about what they sing about. Killing each other, killing themselves & doing things the bible teaches us is wrong. Besides the music is very violent.

many of the groups, such as Ozzy Osbournes group, protray themselves as very dark, and gothic, with images of devil worship and the like. It's only natural for the media to pick up on this and portray all of Heavy Metal as the same.

Some people thought Mozart's music was satanic because it sounded "too wierd". (and Wagner, etc).
Anything some people are not used to hearing scares them. And I suppose if they think it sounds like something violent, that will lend to the "satanic" theory...
