The primary theme/issue will be that "it's time for a change"... (Change = Out of Iraq, Gay Marriage, etc.) That's kind of a broad platform to base a campaign on, but the Democrats have a recent history of choosing people with no charisma to run for President (except for Kennedy and Clinton), so the issues won't matter much if the candidate is as bland as Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, Mondale, Carter (yes, he won once -- barely, but only because Nixon ticked off the country with Watergate), McGovern, Humphrey, and Johnson. If the Democrats can't get somebody to inspire the party (Hillary Clinton is NOT that person), the Republicans will win the presidency again, even with all of the negatives surrounding the Bush administration.

I think relations with the European nations will be a major thing, as well as the North Korea threat. And a CONCRETE plan of dealing with the war on terror. Bottom line is, that if a Democrat wants to win that high seat, he/she/it will be focusing more on issues that give them a majority agreement, instead of the "split down the middle issues" like abortion or marriage amendments. Because if they focus too much on those issues that split the nation, they will alienate a half of the voting public and not get elected. This is why Hilary Clinton has been picking up causes she wouldn't normally have backed, such as the flag-burning amendment, because that issue blankets across party lines easier then abortion or other controversial issues.

The issues will be the War in Iraq, the deficit, stem cell research, anything and everything that is popular among the Americans. It really won't matter who runs they will lie through their eye teeth to get into office, make promises they can not keep because of the checks and balances. The Democrats will be going at it strong to slam Republicans. Shameful way of doing business. The Republicans of course will respond in like manner.

None

The fact is Jeb Bush will be the next President.

Sure the dems will have a candidate but he will not make sense and will have a skeleton in his closet. That the Swift Boat Boys will bring out.

For now America has to pretend that the elections are real. But as soon as we have 100% electronic voting with no paper trail. The programmers pick the winner.

I'll try to give you a serious answer, although you may not think I am being serious. You see, the Democrat party really doesnt have a clue.

All I have heard them do for years is bash Bush. They bash Bush and cast stones at the republican party, but offer no better ideas, or plans.

What will they run on? Higher taxes? Socialized health care? Pulling out of Iraq? Abortion rights? Gay marraige? Who knows?

The war will be a big topic along with gay marriage and since the veto I'm sure stem cell will pop up. It really doesn't matter the one with the most money wins, they all say the same thing and change with the audience. It really come down to who you like personally because when they get to office they won't do a thing they promised, Republican or Democrat.

Probably ending the Iraq war, allowing gay marriage, a minimum wage increase, increasing health care costs and education (which needs an overhaul judging from the illiterates on this site).

Post a joke, I'm having a bad day and have to listen to Muzak version Mariah Carey's "Hero" because I'm on hold with the PA Department of Public Welfare. The horror.

I believe the next presidential issue will be concerning gasoline or other fuel supplies. The United States has been depending on other countries too long for their fuel supply. We need to start making some gasahol. We had gasahol in the past, but for some strange reason it stopped. Grow more grain for fuel..
