I'm a college student and a mom, and don't really have time for a job. I was considering babysitting, cleaning, laundry & ironing service, cooking, running errands, etc. This is to help my husband out.

Many years ago after college I found that I could make lots more money being a plumber and after my training began a career that has spanned 28 years. One that allowed me to raise my 3 children and plan my schedule around them. In the beginning there was lots sneers at the "woman plumber" but that is always the case when you work in a male dominated field. In the last few years most of my new clients requested my because I am a woman so the climate is changing out there. I thing the service you are describing is called "Rent a Wife", (with out benefits of course...lol), you might expand your job description to include personal shopping, keeping calendars, organizing closets, etc... Some single working people pay big bucks for things like this my friend freezes meals at home and takes them to her clients homes so they can have home cooked meals after a hard day's work without having to learn to cook or clean up. These are things you can do and still spend time with your children. Good for you for making an effort to help with the family finances without sacrificing your children.

Excellent idea. I'd hire you in a heart beat rather than some stinky handyman with his crack showing. LOL...I do think it's a good idea. Also consider running errands for busy Mom's and the elderly.

Consider the "running errands" to be "with child in tow"..and you may want to reconsider WHAT you do in the way of errands.

I know of several semi-successful companies which send out folks to stand in lines for concert tickets, pay bills, or even run across town to pick up a second set of car keys. Many of these are as successful as the person who runs it, and also as good as their advertising.

good luck.

As long as you know you aren't walking into the home of a madman who's going to do harm to you...or manwoman as the case sometimes may be. I've thought about it myself. Several of my friends don't want strange men in their homes and have offered to pay me to come help them do things. If you have the skills, why not go for it?
