what you should take? it should be mentioned on the appointment letter, they ask for your photo id, take your old green card if you have one or your passport & drivers license. for me it took only 3 wks to get my green card after fingerprints!

The form 797-C that you received telling you about the appointment, tells you exactly what you need to bring with you, and if you are missing any of the documents that they are requesting, you wont get fingerprinted on that day, you will have to reschedule and bring with you what they asked for.

There is not a set time on when you are going to receive you Green Card after the fingerprinting, you might be lucky and get it as soon as 4 or 5 months after wards or it could take over a year, it also depends on how busy the INS office that you are applying is, Good luck!

you need the letter and the letter will also say anything else you need (I think at the bottom). You should have ID and your passport (you could bring any other notices you have, I did and they fingerprinted me all at the same time for my work permit and my green card). How long you get ur green card depends on what path you are getting it through e.g. marriage, job, etc
I would advise a book or something to do just incase the line is very long.... i waited about 2-3 hours, then I joined a second line, and waited another 30 minutes or more.
Also bring a lot of patience..... if you are lucky the finger printing will be fast, if not you may have to to it over and over and over....

I got my work permit in about 2 weeks, and the letter for an appointment for my green card maybe a couple weeks to a month later (appointment was less than 3 months after finger printing).

If you need to bring anything with you, they'll let you know before hand, but you can look it up at the INS website to make sure, and after, it will only take a few weeks to get your temporary green card.
