always start a conversation off with something general, like if u know them say "hey how u been?, thats good, ur lookin good today" or if u have a mutual friend u havent seen in a while ask about them, but then walk away first, go talk to othas for a few, then come back to where the person is, start talkin to ppl around her/him, then say something like u should all do something together (but dont look at her/him) then turn to her/him n say u should come to. gently touch her/his elbow area when sayin it. then say well i gotta run, tell her/him it was nice seeing them again (or if u see them all the time then say something like ull see them lata) if u want to just come out n say "hey how u been, hey maybe she should hang out one aftanoon" use afternoon bc then its not a date officially and the work hang out helps u out always be the first one to walk away, shows interest but not desperation. or if u just want to be funny say "hey gilr how u doing, omg i got those same shoes"

if you use a pick up line make sure its funny and dont be serious about it pick up lines especially cheesy ones are funny and if you can make her laugh in the first ten seconds thtas a good sign..ive always been a fan of the mirror in your pocket see myself in your pants one!
