I recently moved away from home and started my career. I am only in my second week, but I am having a problem that is already affecting my life. I need to wake up for work at 7:15am. However, no matter what time I go to bed, I wake up between 4:15 and 6:15 and can't go back to sleep, even on the weekends. Along with not being able to sleep, I feel very sick and the past three days I have even thrown up in the morning. My appetite is also down from what it usually is and I have intermittent periods where I am gassy and bloated all day long.

The people closest to me say that it is just nerves/anxiety...I admit that the first week was rough and I was a bit upset but I am over it now...all I want to do is sleep and eat normal...

Anyone have any advice?

it's anxiety. I had this less than a year ago. I couldn't sleep. I woke up every morning and couldn't get back to sleep. I would throw up. Exactly the same thing as you. I couldn't eat. I lost a lot of weight. It got to be really serious. I finally saw a doctor about it, she prescribed lexapro at first, but now I'm on zoloft. I do feel better, and it's been months, but still every now and then I get scared about it. If there's something that really stresses me out, I get it again. I know exactly how you feel. I was so tired, all I wanted to do was just get an entire night of sleep, eat an entire meal without feeling overwhelming waves of nausea. Just be normal again. I would see a doctor or a counselor if I were you and find out the things in your life that are stressing you. Prioritize and cut out of your life any thing that you don't HAVE to do. it's ok to say no sometimes and to not overachieve. For me, i was in a bad relationship, and just getting out of that helped a lot. I'm a Christian, and I know reading some of the Psalms and praying helped me. Look up some anxiety sites on the internet and see what they say. Maybe join a forum. Try some slow-breathing exercises. I know this is a long answer, but I know how you feel. I promise this will not last forever (though it feels like it), but get help.

you need to realize that you have had a lot of changes in your life. This does cause stress. Even though you may not think it is stress your body is say different. You are having to make alot of changes. The best thing to do is when you wake up early just stay up and start your day. Don't try to go back to sleep. The gassy and bloatedness is caused from not eating properly. Give it some time. I now when I moved from my home to another town I felt sick for a little while. Get and do some stuff.

It will get better, I don't know how far away from home you are,but moving to a new area, accepting a new job are way up there on the stress chart, probably as high as death and divorce.
These are new beginnings, that is why they are so stressful, when we are stressed our whole body fills it, and a lot of times it is like a punch in the stomach.
Also it is a lonely time, unless you know someone in the area.
I think a lot of people have had similar experiences, and I hope you receive some good advice from them, as for sleeping, my sister takes advil PM and she said it helps her fall asleep.
Good Luck and God Bless

I'm assuming by your name that you are male. Therefore you are not pregnant.

This could be early signs of IBD. You really need to go see a doctor ASAP. Between the insomnia, vomiting, lack of appetite, bloating, etc. it sounds like you have some problem with your digestive system. Tell your doctor all these symptoms. They will do some blood tests and tell you what is going on.

Take care.

Have u ever thought u might be pregnant???
It may also be that you are missing friends from back home.
But it also may be nerves as u have started a new job, do u have alot on your mind thats causin your sleep deprivation?
See a doctor if it gets worse, or do a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side!!

If you were a women I would say you were pregnant. Butttt. I think some of your freinds are right it is stress.

However you should see a doctor right away. You could also have a stomach ailment such as an ulcer or maybe even stomach cancer. I doubt the cancer part, but you could.
