Be proud of your sister. She doesn't deserve for you to be scared yet. She's not even going yet, is she? Don't be scared! If she goes again, just know that she (and you) did it once... you can do it again! :)

She has already been once and it seems you did fine with it. I have been over there twice. Both while stationed in ND. As far being in the AF makes you safer it doesn't. One of the times over there I was running convoys with an M-16 thrown over my shoulder. Oh and don't think I am special forces. Nope I'm your run of the mill AF paper pusher. As a matter of fact the AF is going to yr long deployments so if your sister goes back it will prob be a year. Don't worry though she has the experience of being over there so if she goes back she will be more experienced and you will have less to worry about.

I dont mean to be an alarmist, but your sister is in the defence forces. The way the world is going we are heading for a major conflict, whether it be in iraq, or lebanon, or Korea, or wherever, she is likely to be in harms way soon. On the bright side at least she has training. If world war three comes about (As i suspect it just might), then she's probably safer than we are.

being in a war zone is scary, period. to give you some encouragement though. my oldest son has been deployed 6 times to iraq and afghanistan- safely home every time. his wife was in iraq for the initial invasion- home safely after a year. my younger son has been in kosovo and iraq for a year each, came home 3 weeks ago. his fiancee returned home safely from a year in iraq. there is no way to alleviate the fear of those at home. but do something productive- don't just sit there. there are also on-line support groups for families of deployed soldiers. yahoo has lots. i do not support the politics of this war one bit, but i am grateful for the military we have that can be called and counted on whenever there is a need. i think they are being misused in iraq, but we have them.

the corporate media doesn't focus on the zogby poll which shows that 72% of US soldiers in iraq want to end the war there this year.

Its only natural to worry about her bc you love her. I pray daily that God will keep my husband safe when he goes to Iraq.

Whether we say yes or no, you're gonna be scared. It's normal. Just trust and believe in her. Hopefully this will be all over soon. Pray.
