most repondses i reed r spelt lik dis coz ppl dunt no how too spel but wtf is that abowt? Yes, I'm aware that most people on here are young - children or teens - but that's no excuse. When I was that young, I could exploit language just as well as I do today. I wasn't educated specially, nor sent to any kind of "above average" school; in fact, my school was a pisshole. So is this just society's declining levels of knowledge, or is there some other reason why most younger people are becoming increasingly retarded?

Update: This answer was submitted -- "cuz dis aint skool duh". Hahahahahaha, thank you for proving my point. No - this is not school (note the correct spelling of "school") - it's life. And if you have any desire to be succesful in life, chances are you'll need to be either extremely beautiful, extremely skilled at a manual trade, or - in most peoples' cases, intelligent enough to secure a decent job - something which will probably require good reading / writing skills. So no, "dis aint skool", but school isn't the only place you're going to need to abstain from writing like a retarded rap star reject. Word to your mother.

I share your background (no offense to my school), and I agree with the ever-present trait of people being dumbed-down by society these days. I am not even out of high school yet, but somehow I find myself reading, writing, spelling, and using grammar better than 95% of the people I run in to.

Now what does this show...that I am all that and more? No--I'm not bragging. Here's what I am saying: you can't get something out of nothing. You have to put in to get out--no output without input. Everything modern-day society tells us is that you want it, and by jove you want it NOW! You have the drive through so you can get your Big Mac NOW, TiVo so you can watch your show NOW, a microwave so you can have your food NOW....everything is *snap snap snap!*

Well kids naturally cling to the same philosophy at school; they don't want to work hard. They want a just-add-water education, and that's what's happened: education is becoming watered down because sufficient time is not being spent on the very essentials of English--the basics.

If we wish retain the level we were once at, we need to help our youth see that you reap what you sow.

so long because the inquiry is intelligible, I surely do not have any challenge with replying. on the different hand, if the question is worded confusingly, vaguely, or in one of those way which shows obtrusive laziness interior the asker's wondering or a lack of consumer-pleasant analyze by using the asker, then I actual will hesitate to help the guy. perfect grammar and spelling enables to make sparkling the question into interest, for certain, yet when the question is to be quite considered worth of a reply, then i imagine the asker might want to show that she or he has thoroughly idea about looking an answer on his or her own words before searching to others for tips. So careful wording, respectable grammar and spelling, and considerate questions are the worthiest applicants for a respectable reaction, i imagine.

I agree but some of the spellings are shortened version that the younger generation have come up with for texting purposes. Also there are just as many non-english speaking people on here as english so their ability to use our languag is somewhat limited. That and the youth of today is on a downhill slide education wise

Goodness, people shouldn't even have to use spell-checking tools if they had learned to spell and use grammar in school. There are just alot of really dumb people out there. Looking at papers written by some college students will blow your socks off it is so horrific. As for the use of letters for words, etc., on the Internet, that is just a language that has developed on here, kind of slang.

I don't think it's fair to judge people because they can not spell correctly, at least they're trying and being a part of this whole thing. Some words are not in the "spell check"! Come on people, lighten up and give others a break, there are too many negatives in this short lived life, smile and be possitive and be thankful you're one of those who knows "proper" english and how to spell correctly! Calling people "retarted" is totally uncalled for!

Aren't you in the mental health site. Half of these crazy shits won't remember even reading this question. Maybe if their other personality leaves a yellow sticky on their forehead they'll know about it. Oh I bet you could exploit the language just like you do those kids in Taiwan who are making those clothes for your new clothing line coming out in the fall. You rich people make me want to vomit! Oh wait where am I? My other personality was just answering a question and I don't know why.

I have been bothered by the same thing here. Especially when it is a one line question and they don't even get it close to right.

I wonder if it is because they spend all day sending text messages with those crappy cell phone keyboards.

A wise man once said: "If you think that the kids today are the dumbest, most useless people that you have ever met, just wait until they have kids."

Well most people are rushing through their answers trying to answer as many as possible to rack up the points and don't care about impressing anyone. They also don't take the time to use the spell check. Some others, think it is cool to use slang. Doesn't really bother me, but I do speak English and find it hard to understand some of them.

I use false English because this is shareware. If you want original meaning with no mistake, you should come and talk with me person to person.
Considering what I have preached, you gain more than to learn Macedonian and then to read my Macedonian Lotus Sutra.
Or, if you think that the spelling is more important than the meaning, should I leave this site?
Everybody can learn good English but can everybody learn the experience I have?
