An Act of God is "anything that happens" according to the Religious among us. And it happens at his Whim and Fancy.
God works in "Mysterious ways"
In actuality, the tsunami was a by-product of the natural processes that take place on this little rock we live on (no God required) LOL

There are two ways to look at "Acts of God."
1) That which he does with his own hands. This RARELY happens in real life AND IS NOTICED FOR WHAT IT IS, about once every 1000ish years perhaps.
2) People call natural disasters "Acts of God" as well at times. They avoid paying for them if they can. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT that these are the ACTIVE WORK OF GOD, but rather just natural events that help make life interesting. I want to surf the 400 foot high tsunami that is predicted to be coming sometime in the next 25,000 years. Some people see devestation, but I see an opportunity for adventure.

It is possible to argue that wasn't an act of God (meaning something God chose to do) but rather just a natural occurrence or an act of Satan. According to the Bible (I can't fully argue any other way because I don't know all of the teachings of other religions) the "World is in the hand of the Wicked One" and God will choose to leave it so while he gives all people a chance to come to Him in their beliefs. When all have had a chance to hear the message and choose then God will take back the World and all suffering will come to an end (though the taking back is supposed to be a rather violent pain-filled time).

If that were an act of God, then you would be assuming that God controls everything and everyone here like it were some little playtoy. It would be that there is free will and whatever you do or think does not matter because it came from God not you. That doesn't happen, God gave free will, and so he watches and does not interfere.

This world will pay in volumes for trying to wipe out God the way they are trying. Many people will suffer and die because of it. The responsibility of where you go when you die lies in your own hands by choosing to accept Jesus as your savior or not.
People should be preparing their souls for eternity, for we are not here permenatnly. Sin can destroy the body, but if you are born again through acceptance of Jesus as your savior, it cannot have your soul. It is the act of sin that forces the Hand of God against the people.

That would be an act of God. What's the big deal about so many dying at once? The world is overpopulated. The believers get to go to heaven which is much better than here & the non-believers (who had their chance) go to hell. Problem solved.

An act of God is something which is not caused by mankind - in other words, a natural disaster (earthquake, tsunami, volcano, hurricane, etc) as opposed to war or genocide.

You insist on bringing up the tsunami and blaming God in every question you post. You'd better be thanking God you're still alive, even after mocking Him.

Creation is an act of God.
The Ten Commandments, which were not written by Moses, but written by God in stone are a contract with us that says if we keep them we will be blessed .. if we do not .. we will be cursed. Acts of God can be good or bad depending on our choices. God is true to His contract or covenants with us.
