With our dog, it was less then the time it took us to carry her from the breeder's house to our car which was parked outside. We were told that she probably would not eat for a couple of days but she was eating food that my wife brought with us in the car.

I am sure it varies from animal to animal. I actually think it was tougher on the mother than our puppy. She looked somewhat upset when she saw us carrying her puppy away. The puppy was pretty much clueless at that point (still is 10 years later but that is a whole nother issue).

As long as it takes. We all grieve differently and at different paces. Take your time & get all your tears &/or anger out of the way. I'm sorry for your loss. It can be very hard to give up a pet. I've done it myself. But if the dog has a good home, try to find some comfort in that fact. Good luck to you.

It depends on the animal and how bonded he was with the last owner.
Most dogs become comfortable in a loving home in about 3 weeks..I have adopted older dogs that took 3 months to become bonded to my family..

last i checked the animals don't grieve at all, so long as their loved and fed and have a place to poop and a clean bed. they'll forget you in a month. as far as ppl are concerned, i guess it just depends on how much you loved your pet.

i still miss mine. that was 6 years ago ...

not sure, it depends on if the animal was given to a happier environment for example it's a dog and was with an elderly person, the elderly person couldn't take care of it anymore and gave it to a family with kids or young couple that spoiled the dog like a kid. that's just my opinion though.

depends on how close u were to the animal, i know if my dog died it'd be a good week i'd be bummed, and then i'd remember all the good times and go look at getting another puppy.

You'd have to ask the animal.
