I'm sorry to hear that. Mine was only 3 when he passed away from heart disease. I waited to get another cat because I loved him so much I felt at the time no other cat could replace him. Now 2 years later I have taken on a new kitty and love her lots. Good luck!

It all depends on how you feel and how your cat passed away. Personally, I would prefer to wait a while before getting another pet. Also, if your cat was hit by a car or anything similar (most cats live older than 7 years), I would consider the reason and think it over.

I wouldn't get one just yet especially if you had it for 7 years! I just lost my 3 year old St. Bernard a few months ago because some sick bastard who was afraid of big dogs shot him and then drug him to his back yard and left him in the trees to rot. Trust me I was on a war path and wanted to get even with this man for doing that to such a nice dog that was a family pet. I thought that getting another puppy 2 weeks later would help me get over what happened to my dog. Well it didn't help me any and now I have this puppy that I absolutely do not like! Give yourself some time to get over it and don't just take home the first cat you see when you do get another one. Sorry about your lose!

I'm sincerely sorry to hear that, I've had cats for many years and I know how hard it is when a pet dies, but you have to move on, get another one, not to substitute the one who died, that's not possible and we both know it, but because you feel ready to have a pet again. So, give it a few days and as soon as you feel better about it go get yourself a brand new baby kitten. What the heck, get two or three, when it comes to kittens, the more the merrier!

Only you can answer that one. As long as you are looking for a new pet and companion, I say go for it. If you are going to look at all the cats in a shelter and try to find a replacement for the one that passed - then you are not ready. You have to be at the point where you can allow the new one to be it's one personality and not be looking for your old cat within the new one

I have 4 cats and when one of mine passed on over Thanksgiving, I went and got another one. Not to replace the one I lost, but because I was so used to having 4 that I could not bear the thought of only having 3.
If you feel the need to get one, go for it. They are the most fun when they are kittens.

Seven is an alright year for cats... You can never tell. Sometimes they pass away earlier, like seven or eight, or other times they can last until nineteen!!
If you are ready & miss having a feline companion around the house, I think you should get another one.
Unless you killed it by not feeding it or something, then I'd say no....

I lost an animal and it does take time to get over them... the pound is always a great place to find a great pet. Just remember that the new pet is not to replace the old pet, its different... its a new friend. Try hard not to compair them... it was hard not to call her but the old ones name.
Go to the pound walk around... youll know if youre ready. Youll feel it when its right.
I now have 3 dogs (thanks to adding my boyfriends)
1 cat
1 ferett
they all needed a home

I am really sorry for your loss. I know it must hurt. You will have to decide for yourself about another cat and the timing. I know I can not imagine life without a cat. The more the better.

I think u shouldnt get one cause what if that one dies youll feel the pain again and you dont want that another reason cause if you get another cat it will make you think of the one that died cause my cat died 2 and i dont want another cat or any pet cause then it might die again.!!!
