Tuna, Makerelle, sometimes meat for treats, (it's not usual but mine eats chease sometime ;-) I try to make Kitty accoustumed to many kinds of foods so she won't turn into a fussy eater...(a common advice for all cat friends!)

why can't you get any food? Well, anything that I can think of is more than the price of cat food. If you have dog food, it would work for a short period of time. I know my cats are always eating the dog kibble, even when their bowls are full of their food. If you have any canned tuna or other fish. Look in the freezer, do you have any hamburger or other meat that you could cook up and dice into tiny pieces? They will not exist on veggies or bread or the such. Don't give them milk - it will give them the runs like you will not belive. Good Luck

Cans of cat food cost around 30 cents each. If you can't afford cat food, how will you afford litter, vet bills, toys, collars, etc?

In a pinch, I partially cook a scrambled egg and make sure it's not too hot before feeding to my cats. Also, tuna is good. Of course, it's more expensive than a can of cat food . . .

Here's an idea - if you're just temporarily housing the kitties, put an ad on Craigslist.org in your area, and see if anyone will donate some food to you.

wow, some people are so judgemental. do you suppose she should take the cats to an already overflowing animal shelter? anyways, my cats love scrambled eggs, spaghetti and lunch meat. the suggestion about seeing what was in your freezer was a good one. i would avoid milk, it does give cats the runs bad! i have 6 cats and all but 2 cannot have milk. maybe you could contact a local animal shelter to see if they would be willing to help you out until you get paid. i know what it is like to live paycheck to paycheck. or even a food pantry to see if they have something the cats will eat (tuna, spam, corned beef). good luck!!

You can feed them tuna fish, chicken livers, fish scraps, whatever meats are cheap and cut up small. They also like bits of cheese. I give my 'stray' kitten precious milk and the cheapest dry cat food. When I have food stamps [which will not pay for cat food] I have given her tuna fish and / or potted meats.

tuna, milk- scraps- whatever they will eat, but make sure to get the right kind of food when you are able to aquire it, because they put the proper amounts of nutrients in cat and kitten food- to keep them healthy

i have found that milk is probably the best thing to feed small kittens along with soggy bread if they will eat it and sometimes mashed potatoes! (i know sounds weird huh but it works!) my cat recently had 5 kittens but and they are eating cat biscuits and tinned food but when they were first born they just drank milk,

Milk and raw fish and meat (don't forget to provide fresh water at all times). Just don't feed them fish heads or fish guts cuz that makes them sick and makes them hurl. (Trust me, not a pretty site) But it is better to get them catfood because human food has a lot of chemicals in it that make it taste good for us, but is very harmful to them. Do them a favor: Get some catfood.
