They're just there to show off...I will take a bat to one of those snots someday!

I own the laptop I am currently on...it's not jealousy. The fre Wi-Fi is an odd thing for a person who spent $1000 on a laptop, and "getting out of the house" and then working in a restaurant sounds truly silly. It's just a show.

Dukalink finally got the humor in my question. Um, no, I'm not actually going to hit someone with a bat ofr using their laptop in public.

"They're just there to show off..." Huh? I see a little green peeking through your question. It never occured to you that they are there to work, do homework, or just to get out of the house?

As long as they aren't playing music aloud, playing games without headphones, or taking up 17 spots with all their junk, I have no problem with it. I'd rather have them than loud cell phone talkers.

I don't. When I was in grad school, I would get sick of the library or home or even my office and bring my laptop to a local cafe to work on a term paper. When I am writing fiction, I prefer working on a computer as my writing is not only crappy, but slow. And in the summer, nothing is better than enjoying an iced caramel macchiato on a shaded patio cafe and working on my latest project.

I thought coffee houses were for relaxation and such to do what you want as long as it's interfering with others? I think talking loudly on cell phone is more annoying then someone looking at a computer and dranking some coffee. By the way I like flavored coffee it's overpriced but it's good.

They're not show-offs. If they are in a coffee house with their laptop then they are probably using the free wi-fi that many coffee houses offer. Get with the times man.

Put down the Latte and back away from the table.

and we wonder why the world is in turmoil.

Wow! sounds like you need to cut back on the caffeine buddy. Live and let live. Are you getting a bit jittery?
I didn't realize that coffee shops were for the technophobes or do you get angry when people read magazines, books and newspapers?
Move on to decaf and chill out!

What about those people who are travelling and wanting to go online in a wireless cafe? How about students working on assignments who are sick of being at home? How about the office worker who needs a break from their office and wants to enjoy a decent coffee?

I think you would do humanity better if you applied your bat to those who use cel phones while they drive.

What was the name of that movie where the guy grabs a cel phone out of the hands of a motorist and hucks it off a bridge?

Being on a laptop in a cafe is very common, the cafes have WiFi... It's not "for show"... who is really impressed by a computer these days, everyone has one.

The coffee shop has Wi-Fi so they can bring in more customers and sell more lattes. If you don't like it, find another coffee shop.
