This is serious, is it the same as testimony?

Testimony is what you know is true. When you bear testimony you tell others what you believe. Examples of things that people usually bear testimony about are: Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Joseph Smith is a prophet, the Book of Mormon is the word of God, etc.

You gain a testimony by having experiences that help you to learn things, and many of these experiences can come through the Holy Ghost.

Other answerers have given you great answers about what it feels like when you experience the influence of the Holy Ghost. I struggled for a long time to recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost in my life, and I am still working on it. I have found that praying and asking God to help me recognize the Holy Ghost has helped. Also, I have learned that it doesn't feel the same way every time. For me, I feel different feelings in different contexts. However, whenever you feel one of those feelings such as love, joy, peace, and comfort, the Holy Ghost is confirming to you that what you are doing is true. So when you feel comfort as you are reading the scriptures, for example, you know that the scriptures are true. Then you have that testimony that you can share with others.

Well for non-religious people, I often describe the Holy Ghost as someone's concience.

But I'd say try reading Galations 5. You'll see a description of what the feeling the Holy Ghost is like - Peaceful, calm, happy, warm. The best way that I can describe it is that a thought will come into my head that seems crystal clear (it just makes sense -there's no confusion), and I feel those good feelings described in Galations.

Being able to recognize when the spirit is talking to you is one of the greatest tools you could have in your life. It's kind of odd, but it takes practice, like recognizing someone's voice on the phone, the more you do it, the easier it gets. A good way to figure it out is to try asking Heavenly Father about something that you already know for sure. Ask him if He love you (I hope that's something you know), then stay quiet and still for a little while and just pay attention to how you feel.

The tricky thing is, when you want the Holy Ghost to deliver an answer to your prayer, you have to really want an answer, meaning you're really willing to act on the answer whatever it may be. Sometimes I have a hard time feeling the Holy Ghost give me an answer to my prayers because I wasn't really willing to act either way.

A testimony is what you know or feel is true about God, the Spirit is what helps you get a testimony. I hope that answers your question.

Best wishes.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23

When you feel these things in your heart, it is from the Holy Ghost. When you feel it while you are reading about Christ, the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, then it is the Holy Ghost telling you those things are true. When you have that assurance from the Holy Ghost, then you have a testimony of those principles. Your testimony is strengthened as your understanding of the principles of the Gospel deepens and the Spirit continues to confirm that increased knowledge.

Testimony is just a phrase used when people give a talk about something that effected their lives. Feeling the holy ghost in them, or something going their way and they feel like it was god helping them out. A way of showing something that strengthened their faith.

I am not sure it is ever described how it feels exactly when the holy ghost visits. It is suposed to be the messanger of god. Thats about all I remember from priesthood classes, sorry.

The Holy Ghost, to me, is felt at diverse situations and in diverse procedures. it particularly is sort of like attempting to describe why or the way you adore somebody, it particularly is stressful to do as a results of fact they don't "sense" a similar emotions as you... For me, the Holy Ghost now and lower back looks like finished peace. different situations, it particularly is like a "mild bulb" happening and that i acquire an answer to a minimum of something I truthfully have prayed or meditated approximately. now and lower back I cry - nicely, a good sort of situations! it fairly is almost a "burning in the bosom" on the grounds it fairly is something SO elementary... it fairly is stressful to describe. it particularly is like once you recognize an absolute fact... you may look on the sky and you unquestionably comprehend particularly, it particularly is blue as a results of fact which you will locate it. that's what it fairly is choose to sense the Holy Ghost. Feeling it is going to become then like "seeing" which incorporate your "non secular" eyes... i in my opinion have on no account had the "voice" others have heard. Many have had reports the place the Holy Ghost has whispered, or perhaps shouted!, something to them - possibly some answer to prayer, or something they mandatory to do. My MIL, some years in the past, grew to become into exterior together with her little ones jointly as they performed. She grew to become into in simple terms sitting there and suddenly, a voice informed her (she believes it grew to become into the Holy Ghost) "RUN to the trench!" without hesitation, she did and whilst she have been given there, her 3 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous daughter grew to become into in the trench and just about to pass under the culvert that runs under the line and might have drown. She observed her purple shirt and pulled her out. The Holy Ghost is a comforter and a chum, He additionally testifies of fact. that's what He has carried out for me. We even have faith he's a spirit personage of a guy and the third member of the Godhead. great question!
