I have heard the news that Jewish rabbies gave a statement that killing civilians in Lebanon is ok as long as the ultimate goal is to protect teh state of Israel. Is this true?

I won't be surprised. They can drag out any old verse from the Old Testament to justify their genocide.

I don't know if any such statement was issued, but it would be consistent with Judaism. That is not to say that Judaism is a bloodthirsty religion, however it is a recognition that Hezbollah fighters do not wear uniforms and hide behind skirts and diapers. In a war, not of Israel's choosing, the way to win is to destroy the other army. Not being able to easily identify that army and knowing that those soldiers cowardly shield themselves among civilians, there is no choice but accept the collateral damage.

It is interesting to note, during a CNN report from Beirut, a reporter was being taken on a tour by a Hezbollah spokesman of a leveled apartment block. The spokesman claimed that no Hezbollah were there, but only civilians. He went on to say that it was fortunate that the residents had been evacuated before the bombs hit and no one died there. What he failed to note was that the reason no one was in the building was because Israel had previous dropped leaflets telling the residents to get out ahead of the bombs. In this case they listened. Further, reports have surfaced that Hezbollah units are preventing civilians from fleeing the southern region under fire. Seems Hezbollah isn't willing to fight Israel without a defensive wall of skirts and diapers.

are you trying to say Rabbi's have rabbies?

The Pope called for most of the crusades even giving out monetary rewards for those who slaughtered Lebanese civilians.
