If you ask your bf/gf to do something for you but they don't want to, would you rather:

1) they do it anyway but complain a little with somewhat an attitude (but just because they complain a little, so what? at the end of the day, they still do it because they love you and do whatever that makes you happy)

OR

2) they don't do it at all (that could mean they don't even care to make you happy)

And if YOU get mad at either one, is that your fault?

Your question is biast. It is very obvious that you want the person who answers to pick the first option. However, loving someone is not about ordering him/ her what to do, but being able to communicate with him and share your opinions. If for example a boyfriend asked me not to hang out with my best friend or not to attend school just to please him, not only I would not do it, but if he complained I would break up with him. That does not mean I did not love him, but i have my own views on what is considered right and wrong.

None of the above. I'd want a boyfriend who is willing to work with me ... there is bound to be something he wants me to do that I don't want to do ... and if we work together and stop acting like children its far easier.

Of course it also depends on what kinds of things you are asking him to do ...

For them to be willing to do number one, but I would hope I care enough to let them do number 2 without offence

They care to make you happy, but that DOESN'T mean that they should be forced to do something they do not want to.

Think about it this way........if you loved them, you wouldn't try to force them to do something they wouldn't want to do. You'd want them to be happy, as well....

Not miserable just to make you happy. Both parties should be happy.

You probably shouldn't ASK him to do anything for you in the first place. He'll do it of his own accord when he truly loves you enough to want to do things for you.
