Just another thing. I'm not stupid and I'm not racist. I'm only talking about when doing a report or when a general group is addressed.

Only when people pause mid-sentence and say african-american in a rushed voice after having to think about it for a couple seconds. I guess some people think being politically correct means tip-toeing around things like that. I don't mind black, because not all black people are african american. My mom is born Jamaican, so she's not "african-american."

I will give you a little secret that, if you have the guts to do it, this simple shot will either put U.S$1 millions dollars into your hands or immediately all reference to people according to "race' in America will disappear within 40 days. Here goes. You have got to trust me on this one. Get a good lawyer and file a suit against the government for classifying you as being a member of a white race. If your parents or grandparents were Italian, British, French, Canadian or Scandinavian, have them prove in court at what point did you "evolve." Since the child of an American (black) and an Italian is considered African American and he never set foot in Africa, if one of your parents is Italian, why did you lose your Italian lineage and the other gain an African lineage? The real legal foundation to win your case is outlined in these books: www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ tg/detail/-/1412043190 www.trafford.com/04-2126. It will be the best money you could have spend. You must be bold to go through with the lawsuit. Most likely they will settle out of court because you will open the flood gates for more people.

I prefer African American. It's an American of African descent. That's what I am, but I don't take offense to being called black either. It's all in the context of how it is said.

Surely if you're born in America (Poor soul if you are) then you're 'American'. Your ethnic origin or colour doesn't matter. I'm English but as we've been in-fluxed by many races in the past how could I describe myself.? I could be:-

Saxon, Celtic, Norse, Scandinavian, Roman, German, French, Dutch, Belgian, Phoenician, African, Asian, Australian, Canadian, Irish or any other of the races that have settled here. Most people born in England call themselves ... English ...

I guess this is worth responding to, i'm ok with just being called black. To me when people say African American they are just trying to be fake and PC.

It doesn't annoy me because I know they mostlikely think it's the most PC term, but truth is, Africa is such a big place, with so many differse cultures, I don't think that it does a good job of describing me. It is slightly less vague than calling me "Western Hemispheric-American.

I don't understand why someone needs to be labeled ANYTHING. We are all people. Just call the person by their name! EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH THE FILM BILLY JACK starring Tom Laughlin to learn how to respect members of other races.
