I would suggest avoiding a kennel as your dog has a greater chance of getting sick there. Surely you have some friends that have always admired your dog. Ask them to help. I have dog-sat for many people as a favour.

Hire a pet sitter in your area. Your dog will be better in his own home and in familiar surroundings. A dog can be exposed to viruses if you kennel him with with other dogs. Check out the link and interview some in your area. Most of the time, pet sitters do not charge for an initial meet and greet to make sure they are the correct fit for your needs. Another benefit is that you have someone to check on your house each day....turn lights on and off and bring in the newspaper.

Either find someone to come stay at your house while you are gone, or find a boarding kennel. If you do the boarding kennel, make sure to go visit the facility in advance--you don't want to leave your dog with people who won't care properly for him.
I've boarded my dogs and they've done fine because we use a very good facility with people who really know and love dogs.

Find someone you know and trust to come to stay at your house and take care of your dog. The best person is someone who lives with their parents or has roommates they need a break from. Make sure you can trust them. The going rate for this service in my area is $25.00 per night. If you can find someone who really wants to get away, they may do it for a case of beer. Having someone come to the house greatly reduces the stress of your dog and you don't have to worry if you left the coffee maker on.

Calm down. If there is a PetSmart around u take him 2 the doggie hotel. And yes it is a real place it shouldn't cost alot either. If that doesn't work then try paying a neighbor or friend to take care of him for a few days.

Suck it up and pay to have him/her to be boarded at a kennel. That might be the simplist question I ever answered
