Hello Laura,

I am sorry that you are having problems with the Medicare Part D application that is being rejected even though it was turned in two weeks before the deadline. If it gives you any comfort, know that you are not alone in experiencing this kind of problem. I can tell you that the Medicare folks in Washington were--and still are --dealing with some major computer problems that kicked many seniors out of the Medicare Part D system. Many that were "kicked out" of the computer system are still having difficulties such as you describe. This is bad news and I am truly sorry for you!

You will probably need some "real person in real time" help to address this problem. Please contact your local Area Agency on Aging where you live. There is one serving your area because area agencies on aging are a national network serving communities in every state and US territory. To find the one where you live, call (toll-free) 1-800-677-1116.

Call your Area Agency on Aging and ask for the folks who know about Medicare Part D and how to resolve an enrollment problem. Consider making an appointment with these folks--and bring all of the paperwork you have --what you submitted and what correspondence you have received --with you.

I think you will find the folks at your Area Agency on Aging helpful and friendly. If you like the help that you get, please let your county officials know--and also let your member of Congress know, too. Area Agencies on Aging are one of the nation's best kept secrets for seniors and their families--and they deserve more recognition, attention and support from our leaders.

I hope this helps! Good luck!

Hi Laura,

Go to their website to get that information and a form to fill out.

You can still sign up for a Medicare Prescription Drug plan and pay no penalty for 2006 if you qualify for extra help with Medicare prescription drug costs. Medicare beneficiaries eligible for the extra help have a special enrollment period that allows them to enroll in a plan between May 15 and December 31. Medicare beneficiaries are eligible for the extra help if they have limited income and resources. The extra help can increase your cost savings by paying for part of the monthly premiums, annual deductibles and prescription co-payments under the new prescription drug program. The extra help could be worth an average of $3,700 per year.

Check out this website, http://www.everyonebenefits.com/40296284

I received an email and I also picked up a flyer in an Apple Market store in Kansas City, MO.

Anyways, It basically is offered everywhere except for Alaska and Hawaii (if my memory serves me correctly). It includes Dental, Prescription, Vision and Chiropractic. I hate dentists, but I may have to reconsider and look into this company.

I'll get back with the person who first sent me this email and ask them how this plan for them works and the benefits and get back with you. Happy hunting for Prescription help.

Have a wonderful day!

call medicare and ask to speak to one of the supervisors..not the regular old jane who answers the phone....and explain the situation and see what can be done...
also..might ask the doctor, if he has any idea..sometimes they can call the insurance companies etc..

good luck~
