He memorized because angel Gabriel recited to him and he recited back. God made it easy for him to memorize. One of the reason why he could not read and write was because non-Muslims would not say he received the information from somewhere else or he got it from books. It was meant for him to be illerate. There was no dream of memorizing the Quran...whoever said that get your facts straight. Another miracle of the Quran is that children as young as 8 years old can memorize it from cover to cover. Over 9 million people have already memorized the Quran from cover to cover. You cannot say that about the Bible because there are too many versions. The original Aramaic is not with us.

If one believes he was chosen by God to reveal these words then anything would be possible. If you believe he was just a man, then the question has merit. Just as many believe Christ was the son of God and therefore do not question His miracles, so Muslims look at Muhammad as a Prophet who was touched by the divine, therefore making his memory a miracle of sorts.
As aside, I have noticed some the hateful speech being thrown around about this question. I would like to remind those people that they are not legitimate either in opinion or faith, since they can offer no answer to a question just statements of ignorance. For the record I am Christian and have neither the time nor inclination to simply allow others to denegrate any faith simply because of what is clearly provocation and politics. Nuff Said.

Because that was one of God's miracles. Muhammed couldn't read or write, but God let him have a dream about the whole Qu'ran, what it said, and when Muhammed woke up, he remembered the dream and he started writing the Qu'ran, as God helped him on the way, making sure their were no flaws or errors, so that everyone who followed the Qu'ran and Islam could follow it correctly. I hope this helped with your question!
