I imagine that due to your category you are looking for an answer of religion. I would say that we are much more let down by our own greed and shortsightedness or the processed and fast food industries.

People go along and asume that the medical industry is here to help them - then we come to find out that they have been putting mercury into vaccinations because that is the only way big Pharma can successfully (and profitable) produce them (never mind that 1 out of 170 kids in america are dealing with autism as a direct result of it). You go through life thinking that the food industry is providing you with nourishing food and then you realize that "better farming through chemicals" is causing all manner of health problems - and the processed foods industry is using any number of crazy things in food, from aluminum (to keep powdered ingredients from clumping) to hydrogenated oils (that act like a kind of plastic in the body) etc.

I think that our desire for profit in pharma and to provide cheap food for the masses is killing off the entire population. China has just started using our vaccines and they are just starting to find autism in thier population. McDonalds and Coke are present in every nation.

I think the biggest deceiver in the entire world is America's Food and Drug Administration.

Peace!

Religion. Which is not surprising. People need to make predictions to manage their lives, and in general these have to be built on models of how the world appears to work. Until modern times, such models were built on guesswork because there was not science to give answers. Now, of course, we can build models on real, verifiable, and what is more important, refutable information, and, except for social bonding, religion is no longer necessary or useful.

The Bible says that Satan is misleading the entire inhabited earth (Rev. 12:9). But he is not a thing, he is a powerful, evil, spirit creature.

The devil himself is a deceiver, and lier. He is out to destroy everybody he can. He has them blind and fooled. The devil makes sin look so fun. he does not show you the price you pay for your sins.
