We use purina one. I was just wondering if there was anything else that is good for a dog. She has arthritis, and she eats well. she is about 6 pound, and shes a purebred chihuahua.

I would get Iams senior small bites. It is best to switch dogs to a senior food when they are 6 years old or over.

If she hasn't had any problems with the Purina, why change her diet? I am not familiar with the normal weight for a chihuahua, but I would be concerned about keeping her at the recommended weight for her size. A lot of people tend to over feed their dogs and this is a bad thing since those tiny legs aren't able to support too much weight and thus aggravate the arthritis. Since she has a health problem, I would discuss this with your vet. She should be on an adult version for her age since she does not need too much protein. Good luck!

Give her Natural Balance adult, Also for her arthitis, buy her some Missing Link Senior. One package for a small dog will last a good few months. Its the glucosamin-chondroitant that will help her. You can also give her half a tablet of dog asperin, that is sold in pet supply stores too.

Don't bother with the weight control foods, they are full of unessasary fillers. You will find corn or potatoes as the first ingrediant, and those items are actually very fattening.

The best food to feed will have meat listed as the first ingredient on the label that is on the dog food. Corn is a cheap filler.
