And the child is adopted by someone else, does the birth parent still have to pay child support for that child?

No...that is what "signing over rights" means....they are signing ALL of their legal rights, obligations, and expectations (emotionally, physically, AND financially) over and letting someone else take over that role.

NO you sign the adoption papers and you are released from any financial responsibilities. There are plenty of loving parents that are waiting for a child. I think that adoption is the selfless thing that any one can do. And, for the parents that adopt a child and love a child as their own is the second most selfless thing that any one can do. No, if the child was legally adopted, and the parent signed over rights .. that child is no longer that parent's "responsbility" You should not be paying child support.. or making any decisions that affect that child in any way.. shape.. or form
