Classic match between two classic fighters and all time greats. Got to hand it to you Smtty, you come up with some great matches! Hands of Stone vs The Explosive Thin Man. I believe Arguello would box very effectively early in the fight, then Duran would come on strong in the middle rounds with counter right hands and when a close but unanimous decision.

I would go with Duran. At 135 lbs Duran may well have been one of the best pound for pound fighters the sport has ever seen. Besides possessing devastating punching power, he was also a skilled boxer and a surprisingly elusive target. Arguello was an all time great as well and probably hit just as hard as Duran. But as he moved up in weight he became much easier to hit. It would be a great fight but my pick would have been Duran by TKO in the late rounds.

I cherished Arguello very lots, yet i think of Duran could be too good for him. Arguello has a great hazard, yet i pick who I planned to the be suitable at a hundred thirty five, and that's Duran.

As much as I like them both, Arguello would have pot-shotted Duran all night from the outside.
That was his trademark. Duran would have had to work his a$$ of to get inside, only to find Arguello gone, and hitting him again.

Duran took a great shot, but really had good defense. I suspect he'd be too strong for Arguello.

Alexis Arquello was the second greatest fighter of the ""modern era" (meaning Post Joe Lewis ) only Ali was better. He'd kill Duran,Leonard, and Hagler and was probably the last True Pugilist (Unless Floyd Mayweather continues to improve)

Arguello, Duran did not have the pace needed to win. Slow paced fight gets him killed...
