Hey! The first thing that you MUST do is think about the two cats you already have! A 3rd cat could upset the balance that they have - do they have a balance???
If your first two cats have grown up from kittens together, the chances are that they will not adjust well to the new cat and one of the three will get squeezed out by the others - especially if you have a small house.
We had a brother and sister and six months after the sister was run over and killed, we got a another brother and sister as kittens. Although the first week was really bad they did settle and now one year on get on fine together. Our first cat was not quite two years old when the two newbies came and was always very social with other cats, so I guess that helped.
Just think really hard about how your cats will react to the newcomer. It is their home as well - they are not just accessories.
Hope this helps, but you do need to think of them as well.

are you sure that you have the time, space and money for 3 cats. I know 2 can be a handful. I have 2 myself. Has your boyfriend given you a reason as to why he doesn't want a 3rd cat? What do you think is best for the 2 cats you already have, do they get along great, would adding someone new to the mix stress them out too much.
if you think that it wouldn't cause too much stress etc on your other 2 cats and you have the time, space and money to add a 3rd cat, then sit down and have a conversation with your boyfriend about what your reasons are to get another cat and listen to the reasons he gives for not getting another cat. Do some serious thinking if this is the right decision, if it is GREAT! if not it might be for the best.

Prepare a special candlelite dinner for him and wine and dine him. Tell him how much you adore him and so thankful he is such a sweet and compassionate person towards your cats.
Tell him how sad it is that there is so many cats needing a good home and that you have been looking to adopt another one. Let him know you would like his support and advice.
Millions of cats are being killed daily just because there are not enough homes and you want to help by adopting another one.
But make sure you have the funds and will keep this kitty for the rest of it's life. It is way to stressful for a cat to be abandoned by it's owner and given away.

You both have to live in the house. Why is it so important to you that you get your own way on this? You've got 2 cats, why isn't that enough for you?
Does he have to share the vets bills for worming, de-fleaing and routine vaccines? Does he have to go halves with you on cat litter and cat food? I think you're being inconsiderate. He's made it clear what he wants. It's not like your banned from having a cat at all.

You just need to speak to him and tell him how important it is to you and that its what you always wanted. Don't get stressy or argumentative about it. Just explain calmly the reasons why you want a third cat and how it won't be that much different from having two. If that fails you could always try giving him the puppy dog eyes, and saying in a sweet inncent voice "Pleeease can I? It will make me so happy". That always work when my boyfriend won't let me have something.

most men dont like cats.. so you've got a real good guy if he is putting up with 2 already.. and since he is, try to find out his objection to the third.. if its a logical reason, use logic to show him why his worries are ill found.. and if its blunt refusal to see reason, then ask him to take a walk from your life.. after all he can act stupid again like this later in life!!!

Who owns the flat??? Do you pay half the household bills??? if you are paying your half, and he is being nasty about a cat, dump him. Next he will be telling you to wear longer skirts and less make up, and its all downhill from there!! If he wont let you have another cat when you really want one badly, dump him.

If he really loves you he would let you keep the 3rd cat if you got it, and showed him how much you care.
