Ok well I recieved my braces about one year ago. Let me tell you something, the very first brace tightening will hurt, NOT extremly bad, but pretty bad. The 2nd one won't really hurt as much. After that you will only notice a little bit of pain compared to the day u got ur braces.
Now the thing that hurts just as much as getting braces is rubber bands, oh they hurt like hell trust me. You might think "they're just rubber bands." Well it feels like 100 pounds tied to your teeth just pulling them down and out. The pain is nothing you've ever felt before.
Be afraid, be very afraid. O.o

It hurts. Your mouth will be sore for a couple of days depending on how much they tighten your braces. You'll get used to it though. You will not be able to bite down on anything with your front teeth.
Take advil or something like that to ease it a bit. The soreness does go away rather quickly and then next month you'll go thru it again.
Its worth it. After all is said and done you will have a Million dollar smile!!

It depends on how much they do. It will ache for the rest of the day anyway. I had chains on my braces to make my teeth move in together, and one time, they put extra thick chains. My teeth actually moved while I was in the orthodontists office, and when the orthodontist saw, he had them take off the heavy chains for ones that were a bit lighter. But I was up all night in pain from that tightening. Usually it's not that bad, though.

It doesn't hurt at all when they are actually tightening them, unless you get a flake like i did once who drops all the tools and cuts your gums. After they tigten them and you go home it may hurt. It only hurt me when I ate for the next day or so.

It is sore for a little while afterwards... but it doesn't last too long usually. Just think of the pretty teeth you'll have when it's all over. And get fun colors for your rubber bands... you might as well make the most of it. :)

it doesn't hurt that bad if you remember to take tylenol or something like a half and hour to an hour before you go to get them tightened
