I never saw any Christians put a gun to anyone's head to convert them. What is wrong with showing someone the love of Christ, What is wrong with letting them know that Jesus loves them. What you unbelieving attackers do not realize is irregardless of what you hear or how it is said, Hell is a real place and those who do not choose Christ will be thrown in it. It is a Christians place to bring others to Christ. I have also noticed no matter what a Christian says, you call us bigots, thumpers. If we preach love you hate us, if we preach about hell, you hate us. It is a good thing we live for Christ, not you. Throughout history Christians have been persecuted, and that did not stop us, your name calling will not deter us either. WE PUT GOD FIRST, and everything else comes next.

In the bible Jesus said," Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven, for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you."

And your question is?

Well cant figure whats the question but i think what you are driving at is this : Too many christian love "within a structure and programme". Seemingly out of a duty than desire which could only come from the real Christ empowerment, so that heathens will not see through the facade. Not that its wrong to do good but doing it in the name of Christ for the sake of doing it is just so fake. For there are non christians if i can use this term, who are also very nice people and do many selfless things do. And also Christians basically tries too hard rather than do it naturally, or is it supernaturally ?

well, throughout history, christians havn't been persecuted, im sorry buddy, but its the other way around. For example, who persecuted the jews? The christians did. What about the mormons, yep, you guessed it, christians did. And how can we forget the muslims, the native americans. Yes, there is nothing wrong with trying to convert, but christians have not been the nicest people when trying to convert. The natives of america were often forced to convert, i know this because i studied California History. Also, we call people that bring the christian religion into politics, similar to what President Bush does. He opposed stem cell research because of his religion. This is clearly a violation of the BILL OF RIGHTS.

History does not support you on this. Here is one of many, many example that can be found with a little time and research:

"Despite romantic portraits of California missions they were essentially coercive religious, labor camps organized primarily to benefit the colonizers. The overall plan was to first militarily intimidate the local Indians with armed Spanish soldiers who always accompanied the Franciscans in their missionary efforts. At the same time the newcomers introduced domestic stock animals that gobbled up native foods and undermined the free or "genitle" tribes efforts to remain economically independent. A well established pattern of bribes, intimidation and the expected onslaught of European diseases insured experienced missionaries that eventually desperate parents of sick and dying children and many elders would prompt frightened Indian families to seek assistance from the newcomers who seemed to be immune to the horrible diseases that overwhelmed Indians. The missions were authorized by the crown to "convert" the Indians in a ten year period. Thereafter they were suppose to surrender their control over the missions livestock, fields, orchards and building to the Indians. But the padres never achieved this goal and the lands and wealth was stolen from the Indians."

It's the constant in-your-face attitude that irritates me. If people want to hear your theories, they will ask for them. Far too many Christians bring up the issue of religion when it isn't called for. Take this example: I was reading a question this morning about a girl who just found out that she was pregnant and wanted to know how to tell her parents... surprise surprise, enter a bible-thumper telling her that pre-marital sex is wrong, she should turn to Jesus and ask for forgiveness or face "eternal damnation", etc, etc. This opinion was completely and utterly irrelevant to the question and was a thoughtless and heartless contribution. The bottom line is that whatever your religious belief is, in today's multi-cultural society it is inappropriate to go around preaching at others.

If you take an ignorant man, tell him that he will go to a place that is far worse than any torture that he could possibly imagine if he does not believe what you believe, perform teh same rituals as you, I think that would be called coercion. In a fair universe, every person would be properly educated and shown all manner of beliefs (or lack thereof) and left to make the choice on their own. Unfortunutely, it is not a perfect world. I understand that you think you are doing God's will, and saving people from hell, but ignorance and superstition is not the way to enlightenment, wisdom or happiness.

When you come to my door on a Saturday morning to preach the word of your lord and attempt to convert me, and I decline your assistance and then you tell me that I am condemned to an eternity of pain and suffering in the fires of hell, that comes off as a force.

I have chosen God, but since you are a Mormon or a Jehovah's Witness or a Christian and I am not, I somehow have not chosen God.

So, who are you to decide that I am saved?
Do I not believe in God? Or do I not believe in YOUR God?

I did see Joan of Arc burned at the stake, however. I did see the Spanish Inquisition where (mostly) Jews were killed. I still see fighting in Ireland between Catholics and Protestants.

A gun to my head? If only...

I agree but those who followed Jesus were called by God. Jesus did not go door to door , and in fact avoided places where there were all non believers.
As Christians our life should be the Christian example, every one would want
that is the way we Teach. and because of some high powered Teachers, that are so self righteous, many are turned off from Christianity. do all in moderation, and And Keep , Keeping God & His Son first.

the problem is that history has shown time and time again that Christians given the power to do so will put a gun to someones head to convert them.

what may start out as love soon turns to anger if the person rejects what he is saying. It happened during the Pogroms, the Crusades, the Inquisition, the colonization of Africa, South America and North America and it can happen again.

There's nothing fundamentally wrong with trying to get the word out...What is wrong is when someone doesn't care to hear it you still insist on trying to instill it upon them. What is also wrong is that you insist your view of Theism is the only one that is correct as evidenced by many of the Good Chrisitans in here who use the followiing in their statements "TRUE FAITH". Additionally, most of the Christian Sects are failing to put "GOD (if there is one) FIRST...You put Jesus first and HE IS NOT GOD! That's why it ends up being a corrupted message (aside from the fact that Jesus is a FALSE Messiah). PEACE!
