what? where do you get this general idea that every christian has a statue of Jesus or Mary? Thats called being a CATHOLIC. and status? what is STATUS? its called being American. every American wants better places to live ect. What about the Christians all around the world? Do they pray for status? Some just pray for a meal to eat. Before you look at a situation blindly get some facts before you throw everyone into a category.

No. 1 - We don't place status on our churches and homes.
No. 2 - I pray for my friends and loved ones who're going through emotional or physical stress, as well as for peace.
No. 3 - That statue is simply a symbol to remind us of what the Lord has sacrificed for our sins, just so we can be cleansed and forgiven if we so choose to be. And her name is Mary, not Mariam.

I do believe it is called faith and is perceived differently by each person. Every religion of each denomination places values on some thing as guided by the outlines of said adopted religion. To criticize people's faiths is not the best answer to anything. There will always be differences that you don't like, but to be the better person, you can respect the alternatives and people's faith in them, just not agree. There are fanatics in every avenue of life who do not hear reason no matter what kind of logic you put before them. For those folks, I recommend ignoring them with all your energy since it's like talking to a wall. That's what I do. Hope this helps!!

*Sigh.* Once again, the light of ignorance shines upon us all.
For starters, "Christians" generally do not have icons or statues in their churches, it is generally a Catholic practice as I understand.
Secondly, no we do not pray "to" that statues or images. They are merely reminders, the same way you might carry a picture of your children or spouse in your wallet. You don't actually believe they "are" your family, do you?
Thirdly, we do not "worship" Mary. We save the worship for the Trinity alone. We HONOR Mary because obviously, she was a very special person. We ask her and the saints to pray for us just as we would ask any person alive to do the same.

It's probably just easier for people to identify or feel connected if they have something tangible. They don't really think the statue is jesus or anything but it helps make things seem closer to them if they have a representation they can see and touch. It's a good question you asked, but a little on the offensive, don't you think?

Yano, it doesnt matter what religion you are. I think the worst thing would be not having a belief or faith in anything. Christians do not pray for themselves, and if they do most pray for peace within. In the end, it doesnt matter who believes in what. All it really boils down to is where our souls will go for the rest of eternity after we pass. Dont have hate towards another religion, it will just make the world worse.

I don't have statues in my home, and my church doesn't either. I pray in faith to God without any statues or repetitions. Simple prayer from the heart to my God and Father in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The statues are they not for idolatry but to focus the prayers. We pray not to the statue, but to the Saint that the statue represents.

Boy, please educate yourself. Not all Christians have statues in their homes and not all churches have statues. The Catholic church is the only church that uses statues and pray to them.
