Isaan province which includes Buriram is very rural or agricultural area. My ex-gf's family lived there though I did not get to go there and visit them. It's a 8+ hour bus ride to there. Sure they have internet and cell phones but, you have to keep in mind Thailand is still considered 3rd world. So putting things or info on the internet is still very new. Again their focus is growing things, not creating a tourist attraction, they are in survival mode. Though Buriram is the largest city in the area, it may not have the things or information that you are used to in the west. The Expats site for those in Buriram sounds like a good idea to check out, and communicate with. I looked for sites referring to Buriram and there are few, mostly referring to hotels, etc. Good luck

Buriram is a tow n located in Nakorn Ratchasima province, northeast of Bangkok about 3 hours away on the road. Place is near the ancient Khmer ruin of Phanom Rung. It is a majestic place and location. And there are other smaller old ruins located nearby. Buriram is small, key visit is this ancient site.

Along the way, you can drop by Korat which is larger and has a few more places to visit. Notably is the shrine of Ya Mo, a legendary heroine who gathered the villagers to drive away the Khmers when invaded. There are shopping malls there too.

Enjoy your visit.
