The saying "people food is bad for dogs" really isn't exactly true. The fact is, things like boiled chicken, fresh meats, vegetables- raw or steamed are good for your dog. You shouldn't feed your dog things like junk food, fried food, candy, etc., but you shouldn't really be eating it either, right? And, of course, NEVER chocolate because it is toxic to dogs.
My dogs love raw vegies and I give them baby carrots instead of dog treats - and they love them. If it's a healthy food for you, it's most likely healthy for your dog too. Do some research on natural diets for dogs. Many people refuse to use commercial dog food at all. Good luck.
Also remember not to season or add flavor by using fatty gravies or sauces to your dog's food. They do not need the extra sodium or calories.
Here is an interesting article by a DVM who doesn't recommend using commercial over-processed foods. I know your question wasn't "Should I use store-bought food?", but this also answers the question, "What is healthy?"

I have 2 little Shih Tzus and a Lhasa Apso and my daughter Mary has a Schnauzer so we have a mix. WE do not breed our babies, they are very spoiled. My Lhasa CheChe ( pronounced SheShe) has a problem of eating fast and not chewin her food, then vomiting later with all food still whole. My vet sugested putting a clean med size rock in her bowl to slow her down. It has worked as she now takes time to chew her food and after 3 months I was able to remove the rock. She now eats slow and chews her food. I have also found that feedig Science Diet Sensitive Stomach to all our girls really helps the vomiting. The food you are feeding may not have everything she needs in it and is not making her feel full, she is not getting the nuterients to make her feel satisfied. Try the Science Diet that I use and if she still vomits, soak her food and give her a bit at a time letting the food settle for a few minutes then feed her a bit more. This should help. I have had dogs since I was 4 and have bred and I also train. I am retired but still like to keep working with the fur balls or any kind of dog. I have also done resque work for small dogs. Hope this helps your baby.

You really should avoid feeding your dog food intended for human consumption. It eliminates begging behaviors and potential health problems.
Another thing to consider is portion control. If you give your 10 lb Shih Tzu one hotdog, it is like giving a 150 lb adult fifteen hotdogs. One bite of anything for your dog is like you eating ten to fifteen bites (depending on your weight of course).

You shouldn't. Human food is usually too rich and fatty for dogs. Human food just makes them fat. Feed them dog food.

NOTHING.
Dog food has special nutrients and additives which they need to keep fit and healthy - human food does not contain these.
Give it dog food.

Cooked chicken breasts and rice is an all-time favorite with dogs of all breeds. It's used a lot when a dog is pregnant and/or nursing.

You should never feed any dog human food. They have great difficulty digesting it.
