He is 4 years old and wets the bed 2-3 times a week. I am not sure of how hotels deal with bed wetters. Should I pack bed pads (I'm afraid to lose them in the laundry). Or do I force him to wear pull ups (like a baby).

simply phone the hotel and let them know he is a bedwetter and they will very happily place an undersheet on the bed and to change the sheets as often as is needed. It really is not a problem.

I have worked as hotel motel housemaid and it was always a welcome thing when parents let us know their little ones were bed wetters... and it is no great trouble for us to place a rubber undersheet on the bed... I dont know where you live but here in Australia hotel cleaners are provided with dispoable rubber gloves for handling wet sheets etc.. If you simply let reception know each morning the bed is wet that it needs changing they will simply change the bed and trust meplenty of hotel cleaning staff have had kids of their own and really do understand the problem.

Don't fuss... don't be embarassed.... it is a common situation for families with little ones...

If you want to show your appreciation leave an envelope marked "Cleaning Attendant" and place a tip inside. It will be very appreciated. You only really need to think of leaving a tip on the last day here in Australia... I understand in USA it is customary to tip staff for each service rendered.

You can expand your search a bit if you understand that Wet-n-Wild is relatively close to all hotels on International Dr. If you are driving they have parking just across the street and if not then there is always the I-Ride Trolley that runs up and down I-Dr. and costs very little. I am sure you will find something that will meet your needs. Remember too, when reading reviews that more people will post a negative review then those that had a good experience so you need to take them with a 'grain of salt'. However, should you find repeated bad reviews over a long period of time then that property may have real problems and should be avoided. Hotels on I-Dr. seem to change hands weekly lately so what may have had one name a month ago is not the same today. Many get bought out and the new company fixes the problems. Look online reservation systems (travelocity, orbitz etc) for rates then check the hotels own website to see if they don't offer as good or better deals. It is always wiser to deal directly with a hotel then thru a online reservation website if you can.

It's okay. It's a hotel, they get paid to change the sheets. However as a courtesy you might ask the front desk for a rubber sheet or bed mat that would help in saving the mattress a bit. Now, about his wetting the bed at 4 years old, if he doesn't do it at home, perhaps he's uncomfortable in unfamiliar areas and is scared. I would NOT put a pull up on him, that signifies that his behavior is "ok" and it's not. If he's just a bed wetter period, then I would seriously take him to a child psychologist to find out why he's wetting the bed. If it's not just laziness or poor parenting (sorry but sometimes kids don't behave properly because they aren't taught properly, NOT saying that in your case) then change the behavior. Reward him for not wetting the bed (and don't give him fluids after dinner hour (6 or 7) and make sure he has a structured bedtime (8 - 8:30 is good for a toddler). Don't punish him when he wets the bed, don't yell or call him names, that will only reinforce the poor behavior. Try going to the bathroom with him (or his father doing this) as a game.

I hope some of this advice helps and that I haven't offended you.

Years ago I was a housekeeper in many nice hotels. Bed wetting is one of the most difficult things for the housekeeper to deal with. If your child is a bed wetter, and sometimes wets through to the mattress, please bring something along to protect the mattress. This is for the sake of the next hotel guest. Many housekeepers will just make the bed right over a wet mattress. Changing only the sheets and mattress pad. Better housekeepers will report the problem to the boss who will either have the bed made over the wet mattress, or flip the mattress. (they all spray air freshener on it) Either way, it can't be terribly sanitary.

Four year olds have accidents... Most hotels seem to have mattress protectors to begin with, but taking along a bed pad may be a good idea.

If you have talked to your doctor about it, you find that bed wetting can last up until early adolescence, through no fault of the parent or the child, and should be dealt with as just a matter fact. IMHO, pull-ups are ONLY of value in these situations. They should not be used in place of "big boy pants" during the day, but can be very valuable at night.

Make him wear the pull ups just incase.... I have a friend who was charged $500 dollars for "ruining" the mattress when her little sister wet the bed. Depends on the hotel but they can charge you for the damages.
Call the hotel and see if they offer anything like a plastic sheets? Just don't tell them your really name until you get an answer!

Hotels clean their beds. Just ask the clerk for extra bed sheets and blankets, I am sure that the clerk will give it to you. You can change the sheets yourself so that the cleaning person doesn't have to do it. But I suggest that you take your son to the doctor. Many young children wet the bed because of their lack of control, but some, like my nephew does it due to certain stress and anxiety, ask your doctor and check it out.

My little brother still wets the bed and i've been through this. Hotels usually have roll in beds and he sleeps on them. They are easier for the staff to clean so don't worry.

Don't say anything to the management. If there is a problem when another guest is there or if the bed is wet, they will take care of it.

As for him, I would put him in pull ups like a baby. That way he will learn that in order to get to be trusted and to wear big boy pants, he has to hold it.
