You already got all the answers for the headache part. I just want to add that your headache could be caused by dehydration. I had a terrible headache (and I couldn't keep ANYTHING down) when I was pregnant. I ended up getting an iv and getting pumped with fluids. The doctor told me that dehydration was the reason I had the headache. Drink Up!! And Congrats!

It's recommended that you don't take anything. You can try to lay in a darkened room with a cool towel over your forehead and try to get it to pass. If you get desperate, Tylenol is always a better choice during pregnancy. Aspirin is ok if you are desperate, especially if it's in the first or second trimester, but it is NOT something to do alot. It is not recommended in the last trimester for all kinds of reasons including it can thin the blood and cause extra bleeding during labor. An occasional aspirin early on is OK> Go get a book called " what to expect when you are expecting". It's the pregnancy bible and will help with all these questions. Your question as well as many others that you would not expect is in there. It's excellent in describing all of these little things that worry moms and help distinguish when something is "normal" or not.
Good Luck!

The only thing you should take is tylenol. I totally agree with the person who spoke about this being a more serious problem. It really can. However, if it is PIH, the headache will come back. You should try the tylenol and lay down on your side. Darken the room and drink LOTS of water. If your headache doesn't go away or comes back - you should see your doctor.

How pregnant are you and do you know what the headache is caused by? Please check with your doctor. Severe headaches could be a symptom of a more serious problem. They need to know what's going on with you and will note it in your chart. They will also give you advice as to what you may take, and any additional symptoms to watch for and report.

I hope that everything is fine but you must be extra cautious when you are pregnant. I have seen the resulting worst-case scenarios in regards to these things and it has left a high sense of seriousness ingrained in me. Please be careful.

Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is all that is really considered safe during pregnancy. Try taking a nap or eating something to see if that helps. If not, consult your doctor for another alternative. Good Luck!

Ibprofen says on the bottle that taking too much of it can cause birth defects so definetly don't use that! I never use tylenol because it doesn't do anything for me, so I don't know what to use if that doesn't work! I guess the best thing to do would be to go to the doctor.

Tylenol. That's it. You must call your doctor before you try to take anything else.
