Carrots are great food dogs as they are packed with wonderful vitamins and minerals. The only caution is that you don't want to feed too many just like any treat. If you feed too many AND still feed the recommended portion of dog food then your dog might get a bit overweight which isn't healthy. If you give your dog more then just "a little nibble" then cut back a bit of her for so you don't over feed her.
Go ahead and feed carrots....they're 100% better then most dog treats on the market!

Why on earth are you making such a big job of it? Add the carrots and cottage cheese to one of the feedings and forget all the extra feeding times. I suggest not free feeding because if the time comes that you need to monitor one of the dogs eating habits, you will have no idea which dog is eating what. Pick separate locations , put the food down, leave it for 10 minutes unless the dog is actively eating. Pick up the dish and don't put any more food down until the next feeding time. Twice a day is often enough to feed grown dogs. I would not feed more than a total of 2.3 cup daily, in other words, 1/3 cup each feeding, and watch to make sure they don't get overweight. I feed harmony farms to all my shelties, and they weigh 20 pounds and receive 2/3 cup daily, so feeding a high bulky food like Purina, 2/3 cup should be plenty for small dogs like yours.

Yeah, my dog really likes fruits and veggies, too, especially watermelon. It's very strange. She's never been sick or had any problems, but I did read this on healthypet.com:
Carrots are fine, but you need to keep them to less than 10 percent of the total diet. If you give your dogs too many, you could unbalance the diet. Be sure to give them in small pieces or that they are chewed thoroughly to prevent blockages as well.

Iy's perfectly alright to feed your dog carrots. Carrots provide roughage and dogs need a lot of it.

ABSOLUTELY.... GREAT for a dog. EVEN or particularly if your dog is healthy or is sick.. carrots are great.. I had a dog one time that had diarrhea a lot.. the vet said CARROTS .. I did and her problems were over. I usually, howeer, steam the carrots for 5 or so minutes until the REAL hardness are out of them.

Carrots are fine, they add bulk to their diet, so they can eat less dog food and still feel full. (that's part of my weight loss diet for an overweight dog) Most fruits/veggies are ok, however, be aware that grapes/raisins are potentially toxic, as is garlic and onions.

Sure is.
Try putting them into a KONG along with regular chow.
It's good for them, especially with tartar on teeth.
