I've been with my boyfriend in the US military for 2 years now - he is being based back in the US (after 2 years of being in the UK) and so we are going to apply for a fiance visa so that i can join him. Does anyone know how long the application will take? What are the odds that it will get rejected if we have a genuine case (I have been living with him for a year)? and does anyone know if while i've applied and awiaiting a response and interview i'll be able to go to the states and visit him there. He'll be in Arizona if that makes any difference. Thanks

Sorry, but the previous advice is bad. You will NOT get a visa faster if you get married. In fact, the paperwork will double.

Your boyfriend can file an I-129F petition for you; if he is resident in the UK, they should accept it at the US Embassy in London, which will save a lot of time. When it is approved, you apply for the visa. When you have the visa, you must go to the US and either marry him or go home again within 90 days.

That was the short version of the process; here is the long, detailed version:

I utilized in July and characteristic been recommended that it will be February formerly i will assume it to be executed. the region lies on the american end. In August the processing centres were decreased from 8 to 2. This has brought about enormous tail backs, initially i became quoted 3 months, then 6 months and now 8 months. the region with it is that I have a baby due in early February which evidently like I wont have a visa in time or would might want to stay over right here for an interview. the approach from right it is merely. Wait 6 months for the united states area to be processed, then a letter will be despatched telling you that the U. S. area is executed and has been surpassed on to the community usa. they are going to take a month or 2 to procedure your document and organize an interview. At this interview you'll both even you visa, it is to be exceeded in on arrival contained in the united states or be denied.

I applied for my fiance to come to the usa. he currently resides in the UK. I can tell you from my experience: I filed the I-129f in early Feb & recieved approval on 3/16/06. He completed his visa application in late may (took some time to get all the necessary paperwork in order i.e. police certificates, translation of birth cert, military records, etc). So anyways he sent the completed visa application to the London embassy and he had his appointment for his interview on 7/3/06. The people at the embassy were very polite and friendly (we were a bit worried about the interview process cause his english is not that good). I flew to UK to be there with him and they asked him how we met and congratulated him and it was over. He recieved the visa on 7/10. The whole process was very very smooth and FAST!

As far as visiting him in the states I think you will have to get a visitor visa for that. Check the embassy's web site for information or USCIS website. Best of luck to you!

Since he has actually met you. The process takes about 30-60 days depending on the country of origin.

They won't refuse the visa especially since he has met you and spent time with you. Now if you want to speed things up. Marry him now in a small civil wedding then you will get a Visa faster.
