If the O/D light is on and you have an automatic it may mean Overdrive is OFF which is costing you fuel. here's a button on the left side of your shifter. Push it and see if light goes off. The way to tell if Overdrive is on or off on the highway is run it up to 70 mph. The setting where the engine is turning LOWER rpm is Overdrive. That's where you should leave it 99% of the time for fuel economy.
Overdrive is like an extra gear that makes your engine turn slower in top gear.

There is a setting or button on your car (near the shifter normally or on the dash) that you can pick for OverDrive. Basically gives you a little extra power (by increasing the RPM's of your car) so it would be used on the Hiway for example. You would turn it off in the City to save gas. Does indicate anything wrong and your owners manual should tell you where to locate the button.

this is simple,,the car is running in overdrive,,on the transmission on these car,s you can select whether or not you want to use over drive,,it,s best not to in the city,,but when on the free way or open road it will save you gas if you use it,,but when in the city it will make the transmission shift up and down too much,,you will find a button on or around the shifter that engages it,,that's all the light is telling you,,is that it is own,,you should read the owner,s manual on this car,it has a lot of information in it you might find very use full,,enjoy the car,,i hope this help,s.

Overdrive is engaged. Leave it in overdrive...on the open road, it saves gas.
