James is correct. The Rio Grande no longer reaches the Gulf of Mexico. Below Falcon Dam its shallow. "Wet-backs" used to strip off, then put their clothing on their stomachs and float across the river on their backs. They'd re-dress on the Texas side.

Most of the Rio Grande in Texas is so shallow it would be difficult to find a spot to swim, so the answer is yes, and no. Notice I can use the terms "white trash" or "honky" but it gets automatically edited out if I try to use "*******", which is what your back would be if you swam across a river.

I live in south texas and have been to the border alot. The Rio Grande was very shallow where I was, and people just waded across...I'm sure they use rafts and swim too in the deeper parts.

i have in my opinion not in any respect been to Texas. yet i became born in California and am residing in Arizona excellent this second. i comprehend that in the time of California, the final public of the inhabitants is Hispanic, so it is looks somewhat extra organic to chat in Spanish. yet in Arizona, no longer a lot. it is what i have stated.

Yes, I've heard that they do a lot. A lot of illegal immigrants are called "wetbacks" because they swim across.
