On my desktop, no matter what folder I'm in it'll have an option to the side to view photos as slide show. I just got a new laptop that also has XP professional on it, and a lot folders dont give me the option to view as slideshow or to view in filmstrip mode. How can I fix this???

You can set the folder properties to be a media folder so it acts like My Pictures folder. Just go into the the folder's properties and change it. Click on customise to change it. Good luck!

Try changing your screensaver. In WinXP, there is an option to use pictures in "My Pictures" as a slideshow. Right-click on the desktop and click Properties. Click Screensaver. Click the down-arrow. You will see it.

I tried it for a while but took it off and reset to blank. It is fun for sure but uses a lot of memory if you want to be doing some serious work.

Create your own slide shows: Microsoft's Photo Story (a free download) lets you create custom slide shows of your photos. The software lets you edit photos, add effects, add music or narration.

You can save your slide show as a video file and optimize the video for a number of different devices (transfer the slide show to your smart phone or PDA).
Note: You do need Windows XP to use the software.

with the "non-working" folder open, go to tools \ options. select the "general" tab, and click the option "Show common tasks in folders." then click "apply" and "ok".
