I have had diahrreah for the past three days. Apparently from a "bug" I caught from my son. Anyway, this morning when I woke up, my lower back was hurting REALLY bad. It still hurts! It hurts right where my kidneys would be. I have been drinking a lot of water, but my body seems to be "releasing" it faster than I can drink it. Should I be worried? Does this mean that I'm dehydrated even though I have been drinking a lot? I have a doc's appt. tomorrow, but I would really like some info from someone that might know as well. Thank you!

Drinking water is good, but you need something with some electrolytes in it like Gatorade or Powerade. With all the bathroom trips you've been having you've lost a lot of potassium and sodium. As far as the pain you may have some inflammation around your kidneys that may be causing you pain. If you can tolerate Tylenol or Ibuprofen try those to at leat alleviate the pain until you can see the doctor.

The situation you just described happened to me, a few weeks ago
and my lower back also started to hurt like that. I suggest not going until absolutely necessary because they will do a stool test on you and your not going to like that. Your lower back pain is just what you described, drink alot of water, believe it or not sit ups will help you to get better, it did for me.

Diarrhea can deplete not only your water, but also your body's electrolytes. You might need urgent medical attention. I'd ask your doctor if you can come in urgently to see him. Something similar happened to me years ago and I was hospitalized with an IV for a couple days.

If you cant have water without, letting it out, (sorry lol) you definatly need to see a doctor, i had a horrable bug about 4 months ago, dosnt sound quite as bad as yours but try taking an imodium instant tablet, they really work.
Hope ya feel beta.

its good that your going to the doctors, i had the same issues that you had, but mine started as a "bug" but then i didnt see a doctor and i let it go on for a while and it turned into a bladder/ kidney infection. so drink cranberry or apple juice and it may help with your diahreah situation.

Call the doc's office back and tell them you think you need to be seen today & explain the symptoms.

you need to get to a Dr. but if you can't today you need to get some Gatorade & drink all you can & it will help replace some of what your body has lost until you can get to the dr. but go do it now or get a friend to do it immediately

Go to webmd.com to see what you might be able to find, but continue to drink water. That is important.

You could possibly have a kidney infection. Get yourself to a doctor and have your urine checked.
