EXAMPLE TO UNDERSTAND RESURRECTION:
Luke 8:50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him,
saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole.
Luke 8:52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said,
Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. Luke 8:54 And he put
them all out, and took her by the hand,
and called, saying, Maid, arise.
Luke 8:55 And her spirit came again,
and she arose straightway:
and he commanded to give her meat. Soul is whole person.
REAL RESURRECTION: 1Cor.15:22 For as in Adam all die,
even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
SPIRIT: Num.16:22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God,
the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin,
and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation.
Isa.42:5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens,
and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth,
and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath
unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
SPIRIT RETURNS TO GOD:
Eccl.12:7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as
it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
SPIRIT RETURNS TO RESURRECT THE DEAD:
Psm.104:29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled:
thou takest away their breath,
they die, and return to their dust.
Psm.104:30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created:
and thou renewest the face of the earth.
DEATH: Psm.49:14 Like sheep they are laid in the grave;
death shall feed on them; and the upright shall
have dominion over them in the morning;
and their beauty shall consume in the grave
from their dwelling.
DEATH: Psm.146:3 Put not yourtrust in princes,
nor in the son of man,in whom there is no help.
Psm.146:4 His breath goeth forth,
he returneth to his earth;
in that very day his thoughts perish.
Psm.115:15 Ye are blessed of the LORD
which made heaven and earth.
Psm.115:16 The heaven, even the heavens,
are the LORD's:
but the earth hath he given to the children of men.
Psm.115:17 The dead praise not the LORD,
neither any that go down into silence.
EARLY ON EARTH RESURRECTION:
Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the
resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not
left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Matt.27:52 And the graves were opened;
and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
Matt.27:53 And came out of the graves after his [Jesus],
resurrection, and went into the holy city,
and appeared unto many.
EARLY HEAVENS RESURRECTION:
Rev.6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal,
I saw under the altar the souls of them that
were slain for the word of God, and for the
testimony which they held:
Rev.6:10 And they cried with a loud voice,
saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true,
dost thou not judge and avenge our blood
on them that dwell on the earth?
Rev.6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them;
and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for
a little season, until their fellowservants also and their
brethren, that should be killed as they were,

The only ones who know for certain are the ones that have already passed. Some would say Heaven or Hell, others would say no where, some would say that there is no such things as souls. Personally I prefer the idea of reincarnation. Nature likes to reuse what it already has. What I don't believe in is past lives (that ought to confuse a few people at first).
I think that our souls are akin to water, when we are created our parents make our body which is like the cup and the water (soul) is poured in. The water immediately takes on some of the traits of our parents (hereditary traits) and as we grow our experiences "color" the water to what we become. When we leave this incarnation our water is returned to the font which it came from and as with any water it starts to disperse out but not at an even rate. As more people are born they may take a little of the old "color" from the past which explains people having a past experience or why to some people certain places or things seem very familiar to them.
As far as what is the right answer, that is up to you. Your faith is yours to choose and I hope it brings you peace of mind and happiness.

Your soul does not need to go anywhere when you die. Jesus told us that the kingdom of God is within us. He was telling us that the part of us we refer to as our soul is actually a part of God.
There is no distance between us and God except in our delusions about God. Jesus was telling us that God is not external to us. Religion says that God lives on a far off cloud called heaven. This is not true. What Jesus told us about God is true.
Soul is spirit. Spirit is not a physical object. Only physical objects require a place to exist at. A soul requires neither a place to exist at or any destination to go to, like a physical object would. Soul being a part of God exists everywhere at the same time. Be careful simply believing things that people tell you that contradict the teachings of Jesus. Think before you accept someone else’s ideas, as your truth no matter how widely believed they are. Jesus always told us the truth.

Human soul is eternal. The body dies but the soul gets transferred to another form occupying a different body. The kind of form/body the soul takes depends on the qualities of the soul displayed in the previous form/body.

The spirits of both the righteous and the wicked return to God. Their bodies return to dust.
"Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it." Ecclesiastes 12:7.
The body turns to dust again, and the spirit goes back to God, who gave it. The spirit of every person who dies--whether righteous or wicked--returns to God at death.
What is the "spirit" that returns to God at death?
There is nothing mysterious about the spirit that returns to God at death. It is the breath of life.
"The body without the spirit ["breath," see margin] is dead." James 2:26. "The spirit of God ["the breath which God gave him," see margin] is in my nostrils." Job 27:3.
Answer: The spirit that returns to God at death is the breath of life. Nowhere in all of God's book does the "spirit" have any life, wisdom, or feeling after a person dies. It is the "breath of life" and nothing more.
Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
"All that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth." John 5:28, 29. "David ... is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day." "For David is not ascended into the heavens." Acts 2:29, 34. "If I wait, the grave is mine house." Job 17:13.
No, people do not go either to heaven or hell at death. They go to their graves to await the resurrection day.
"The living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten. Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun." "There is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest." Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10. "The dead praise not the Lord." Psalms 115:17.
God says that the dead know absolutely nothing!

I t goes to sheol, read Ecclesiastes 9:5, it says that when we die, we are concious of nothing, so we dont go to heaven or hell, only 144000 chosen people stated in Revelations 14:1-6 go to heaven, the rest of us, when we die go to sheol, which is the common grave of mankind, we then wait for the resurrection which is when Jesus comes to judge the world and then all the dead people are resurrected, good and bad, judged and given the hope of knowing Jesus.The unrighteous people who do not want to know Jehovah and learn his righteous ways go to gehenna, which is the eternal place of fire

You stay in about the same state you were in before death for awhile. Then you can go through the event horizon of the light to the place some call 'heaven'. At that point, YOU yourself judge your own life for lessons learned and decide where to go next. If you need to work out karma, you reincarnate to earth to try again.

If you are catholic then your soul will go to heaven or hell, if you have sinned during your life but overall have been a good "soul" then you will make the transition to heaven by going to purgatory first to be cleansed before being accepted into heaven!!

Home! we return to spirit. We exist on whatever 'level' we have spiritually progressed to.
I don't believe there is a heaven and hell. Just different levels. You may return to a physical life to experience more/learn more life lessons in order to progress higher spiritually.
i.e. someone like A Hitler would be on a much lower level than Mother Theresa. You can move around to lower levels if you like, but no one from a lower level can get to a higher one without progression.
