ESL = English as a second language.
Check the local college, they offer the classes and they are fairly inexpensive.

ESL means English as a Second Language. It usually refers to classes you can take to improve your English. While most of the students in ESL classes are studying with a view to passing the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) to get into an American college, some people will study at these classes simply to improve their spoken or written English.
