The dead sea scrolls were discovered between 1947 and 1956 in eleven caves in and around the Wadi Qumran (near the ruins of the ancient settlement of Khirbet Qumran, on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea).

The Dead Sea Scrolls, also called the Qmran or Qumran scrolls, were found in the Dead Sea region of the Middle East. They are written in ancient Hebrew, Greek, Aramaic and a few other languages.

Many scrolls were found in several different caves.

The scrolls contain a snapshot of life at that time. Some of the scrolls are religious, the Book of Isaiah was found intact, some are religious commentary such as the commentary on the Book of Job. Some are what we'd call daily laws, such as the Book of the Community which sets rules for living. Some are philosophical works, like Plato's essay The Cave.

Some of the scrolls are very much fragmented with only a few words available here and there. Some are complete.

You can look at Amazon for translations of the DSS.

They were found somewhere in the 1950's. This was in Israel if I am correct - Just type dead sea scrolls on Google and you will be directed to many sites giving you load of information on this. Go visit National geography site too - they have given a time line for this as well.
