well lets see a spread could be like oleo or butter or mayo or miracle whip all are spreads that you can spread. so spread is also an action as in spreading something ie. butter, oleo, manure on a field and a field could be known as a spread. or you could spread your legs, arms or lips to form a smile..but then there are spread sheets also which are not to be confused with sheets. So sure what is a spread....
