George Bush believes that if the west establishes democracy and western beliefs in the Middle East, people in the Middle East will eventually come to like us. Pretty naive, I think.

Its all about controlling oil ( refer Mr. Bush's background ). The reason America went in for war is really not because of some WMDs. It was because saddam started accepting Euros instead of dollars . Once the world accepts an alternative currency for trade (especially oil rich countries, coz everyone wants oil ) america will not be able to sustain its super power image. This is because the demand for dollar will come down and they will not be able to indulge in deficit financing. So it is in the interest of American economy that the rest of the world suffers ( especially oil rich countries ). Thats why the 'greatest' democracy on earth painfully ensures that there will be no democracy in these countries.

About iraq these guys thought they can come do some bang bang and control the country. but there they went wrong. Destroying a country or for that matter anything is easy. But sustaining it or ensuring administrative success is a whole different ball game. For that they have to learn history, they should know the culture and know how to respect it. Its the policy of give n take respect world over . No one will take or accept bullying, even if its a great super power.

Now if the troops withdraw ( there is nothing much they can do there for that matter ) iraq will be pushed to civil war. A civil war in Middle east can destabilize the whole region and have ramifications for the entire world. So americans are stayin there to act as deterrent. But it is not going to last long. God save the people of earth .

The reason we are still over there is because the new elected leaders of Iraq have asked us to stay and help them stabilize and build their security forces. When that is done we can leave. It doesn't help that Iran and Syria are send over 90% of the insurgents to ensure stability never happens in Iraq. So does that mean, we pull out, and let the new government fall to the hands of the terrorist, and grow the terrorist nations to include Syria, Iran, AND Iraq? I'm do believe that would be a very bad idea. Of course Russia and China would be deliriously happy about it. As they are the puppet masters of Iran. Their hands are very dirty in all that is going on over there.

A. Marie is right on target (and PRETTY, too!).

Bush used the 9-11 disaster to illegally and unconstitutionally invade another sovereign nation for only two reasons: 1) He wanted to 'finish' what his daddy started during Desert Storm and magnify the visibility of the Bush family dynasty; and 2) LimpDick Cheney wants all that OIL swimming underneath Iraq's sands so he and his buddies at Exxon-Mobil can get richer and richer and richer.

PREDICTIONS: There will be NO TROOP WITHDRAWALS
from Iraq until Cheney has an iron-clad, rock-solid arrangement in place with the new Iraq government (which he helped install) to take all of Iraq's OIL.

We will use diplomatic efforts to pursue our objectives in North Korea, because North Korea has no OIL. Iran, on the other hand, will BE INVADED as soon as the Bush team can come with a plausible excuse for such illegal and unconstitutional activity (they already know the American populace won't believe Iran has weapons of mass destruction).

Just before the 2008 election, Bush will fabricate a new 'terrorist' attack on the U.S.A., then declare Martial Law so he can remain in office, claiming it's in the best interests of national security.

A war on terrorism that's gone badly wrong. Badly side-tracked. So today you have a whole lot of terrorists going around making the world an unsafe place - Spain, Britain, India...god knows where the Islamic extremist will strike next. It's chilling to know that their backers even have nuclear weapons. Did we goof or what?

Creating a Middle East country that is not a haven for terrorist, thereby making the world, and especially the US, just that much safer.

For those of you who think it's all about oil, let me ask you this: WHERE THE HELL IS THE OIL? SHOW ME THE OIL! IT SEEMS THAT ONLY THE CORRUPT LEADERS AT THE UN HAD ANY CHANCE OF GETTING IRAQI OIL. PLUS RUSSIA, FRANCE AND GERMANY!

Oil and strategic control

War with Iran is looming. What a nice position to be in (right next door).

It really is just about a bunch of wankers in power breaking the law.

money and power

this war has made Billions for Halliburton, which happens to be the company Cheney used to be CEO of and still owns tons of stock in.
it also allowed Republicans to pass laws they wanted and stay in power. do you think people would have voted for Bush if they weren't scared about the war and possible terrorist attacks?

Bush family personal issues. And I'm sure there is money involved somewhere. The world is corrupt, remember that.

We are helping set up a democratic government, and we are also helping to clear out any terrorists still in the country.
