my daughter and I do it all the time, and we've never been charged. of course, I'm not sure where I'd look to even SEE if they tried to charge me, as I've never given yahoo a credit card number or anything, and it sure doesn't show up on my phone bill. So yeah, I'd say it really is free... lol.

yes, the downloading of the software is free, but the making of the calls through the telephone still charges
