..then it is in our nature to seek love, not to sin. I think we are all born perfect and it is the environment (including our parents) that teach us how to sin and how to live. Dont you think if both your parents were like Jesus, you would turn out just like him?

This way the church is controlling us even before birth and with fear they manage to rule - and choose the rulers!

We are born in sin. We have a sin nature. Ephesians 2:3-5. Read 1 Corinthians 15:21-22. Yes Adam was created in the image of God, but sin came in and all took on Adam's sin nature. Only Christ can give us a life to live.

To say that we are created in the image of God means that we have a) an immortal soul that is uniquely ours for eternity and b) that we have free will to choose our own path.

When we say we are born in sin it is because unlike God, we are not perfect beings. We are merely human, creations of the Almighty, and we have our flaws and our weaknesses. Because of those weaknesses, we have the tendency to sin and disobey God's commands.

As for our environment, it is possible that the surroundings we are raised in lean us more towards or more against sin, but it is not the end all. There are parents who do their absolute best and raise their child with all the morals they had, but still they can turn out rotten. Sad, but true. Alternately, there are some children that come from wicked homes and turn out to be very upstanding, good people.

Christians read the creation story in Genesis to mean that although God created Adam & Eve perfectly, they nevertheless had free will. And they used their free will to sin. This is called "Original Sin." Hence, they must leave Paradise, and all their descendants are "born in sin" as you say.

Jean Jacques Rousseau (who Thomas Jefferson was reading when he wrote the Declaration of Independence) famously said, "Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains."

So which is right? Are we born bad, and become good through the civilizing process of religion and education. Or are we born good, and corrupted by society.

You seem to accept Rousseau and Jefferson's view.

Personally, I do not believe in Christianity.

But I do believe that Christians are right that we are born "bad." I certainly don't think "it is in our nature to love... etc." An infant is the most selfish creature imaginable. And it takes great work to make it anything besides self-centered.

Adam Was Created in the Image of God and was created perfect and sinless, but he was given free will to choose to obey God or Disobey God it was his choice, So he disobeyed God and sinned and therefore began to age and start to die. He and Eve while in an imperfect state a sinful state concieved children and passed this sinful inherited state to their children. Therefore we are all born in sin. But As soon as God noticed what happened he lovingly made a provision to redeem obeideint mankind he doesnt expect perfection as he knows we are sinful but he does expect we try our best, his provision was his Son Jesus, he would send Jesus to Earth (if Jesus agrees which he did) as a perfect man to pay back what once perfect Adam lost. And redeem obedient and faithful mankind.

Since the first 2 people that GOD has created sinned we were all binded with the same act to a point that, for every child being born is said to b a sinner but HE also made sure that we don't remain like that in front of his eyes by letting HIS only son JESUS CHRIST to die in the cross for us so as to regain the bad act which happened in ADEN.Once u realise the truth that CHRIST died for us, u are no longer a sinner in front of GOD'S eyes!!!!

Man and woman were made in the image of God with individuality, the power and freedom to think and to do. Though created free beings, each is an indivisible unity of body, mind, and spirit, dependent upon God for life and breath and all else. When our first parents disobeyed God, they denied their dependence upon Him and fell from their high position under God. The image of God in them was marred and they became subject to death. Their descendants share this fallen nature and its consequences. They are born with weaknesses and tendencies to evil. But God in Christ reconciled the world to Himself and by His Spirit restores in penitent mortals the image of their Maker. Created for the glory of God, they are called to love Him and one another, and to care for their environment. (Gen. 1:26-28; 2:7; Ps. 8:4-8; Acts 17:24-28; Gen. 3; Ps. 51:5; Rom. 5:12-17; 2 Cor. 5:19, 20; Ps. 51:10; 1 John 4:7, 8, 11, 20; Gen. 2:15.)

It is not all Christians who use use the term 'born in sin'. It is a referance to the 'Original sin' of the Roman Catholic Faith. Only Jesus Christ was born without sin as he was conceived immaculately i.e. without sex. Mary was a virgin when she conceived. Therefore there was no carnal pleasure in her conception so Jesus was born without sin. We however are conceived as a result of',hopefully, a pleasurable experience. Sex to the ealy Roman Church was a sin, so we are all born in sin. This of course is a direct contradiction of Gods words in the Old Testament wher he tells us to 'be fruitful and fill the earth'

We are born with a sinful nature, it's been that way since the fall of man. It's a selfish nature, and if you don't believe me, then you aren't a parent lol.

You are right, it IS our nature to seek love, but we are selfish creatures by nature as well. Remember, we were created in His image, but we are not Him.

The original sin. That's when Adam and Eve ate from the Garden of Eden and God said they were not allowed to. Th devil (as a snake) convinced them. That was the first sin ever and God said it would affect all of ther children and there children and on and on. We clean ourselves of original sins through baptism---one of the seven sacrements.
