She's very good around the house, but I cant even take her for a walk as she tries to attack other dogs and people. At home she has to be locked away if visitors come as she cant be trusted.
She only likes a hand ful of peopl in total. She has not been mistreated in any way. I cant see any reason for this behavior.
Any suggestion? Also, impossible to take holiday as I dont think any kennels in the West Midlands would look after her.
If anyone knows of a good Dog kennels in the Dudley area I would appreciate your knowledge.
many thanks.

Well the only way to make a dog behave is to be in control of it. Dogs are very much an dominate/submissive animal. My best suggestion is to get some books on behavior training. Some people find this hard because they think it's mean and cruel, but in reality it's how dogs communicate. You have to be the alpha dog and dominate the dog so that it respects you. Once this happens you can then show the dog what is acceptable and what is not. If the book training does not work I would suggest going to a trainer who can train you and the dog. Good luck!

Absolutely there are things you can do.

First, no one on this thread can say how dangerous your dog is. You need to make that assessment with a professional trainer.

It is unlikely that something you've done caused your dog to become reactive. Dog's don't typically become this way out of being abused or mistreated, they become that way out of insufficient training and socialization. Alsatians (German Shepherd Dogs) generally need a great deal more socialization and training than say, Golden Retrievers, and while this is not always the case, dogs need to be addressed as individuals. There are some dogs that grow up to love everyone and have no problems with zero training. There are also some kids that come home and do their homework without being asked. The people have have those kind of dogs and kids are very lucky. They are entirely unqualified to give advise to people who draw shorter straws. With puppies, it's safest to assume that you *won't* have the perfect kind and socialize like crazy. Since that ship has already sailed, you'll need to go to the next options.

The best resource I can direct you to is a Yahoo! mailing list called 'agbeh', short for aggressive behavior. They will very possibly have suggestions for trainers in your area, and will absolutely be able to give you guidance on how to work with your dog. I'm going to tell you upfront that turning this kind of thing around will take time and effort, and there is no such thing as nonsense like the "Dog Whisperer" myth that you can fix this stuff overnight (pay attention people, they state right up front on the television show that the dogs are not, in fact, cured on the spot -- if you're not looking for it, it's easy to miss that wee detail buried in the entertainment aspects of the show).

Hang in there... if you're dedicated to working on this problem, it IS possible to get results. It'll be worth it.

this breed is a working breed. It sounds like it comes from an agressive line as most shepherds brought up in family environments are not aggressive. I might be wise to get the dog to the vets for a check-up. If there is nothing wrong, i'd strongly advise you work your dog. Obedience/agility/working trails. Shepherds need work. I can't stress that enough. If the problem has not resolved itself in a month, it would be a good idea to get a canine beahviourist that specialises in aggression. They may be able to pick up on the trigger that you may not have realised. I do hope you sort this problem as dogs like these give this lovely breed a bad name. Please sort it ASAP before your dog injures someone and gets put to sleep. It's so sad to hear when a dog becomes like this.....

You have a very dominant assertive breed of dog.
If you have not worked with a trainer you need to.
Not in a class setting you need one on one help with some one who handles behavioral training for aggressive dogs.
The problem can be made better but it is going to be a big effort on your part and you are going to have to spend hours working with this dog. You have chosen and naturally aggressive protective breed of dog. They are not going to be good with other dogs and strangers. When you choose a breed of dog that was bred to guard a flock or as a personal protection dog you are going to get this type of personality. That is what they were bred for.
You should be locking her up if you company as they have no business with you dog.
Working one on one with a behavioral trainer would help you to learn tips on how to take control of the situation and stop her from escalating to far when she sees people or other dogs.
See if you can find a trainer and do some one on one and hope full then you will be able to move into a class setting. Hang in there and good luck with the training.

I watch the "Dog Whisperer" with Cesar Milan who is known as the "Dr Phil of Dogs" He calls your Alsation a "Red Zone Dog" because of their aggression and they are rehabitable. Go to his Website or google him. But basically what he teaches Red Zone Dog Owners is you must be the Pack Leader of your Dog. Right now your dog "owns" you and the house and you have to take back ownership by being s strong pack Leader. For instance when you are walking him he must be on a tight leash and you must walk ahead of him .You must exhibit a calm energy. strength, domination and leadership which your dog will sense right away. You are the pack leader not him. But go to his Website and he is on the National Geographic channel here in the USA. Good Luck with your Alsation!

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tr.im/ChLPh

By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.

To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.

Get her a large surroundings so that she could play and be herself all alone...........don't kill her!!!
There must be something which makes her behaves like that....You raised her till 6yrs, and only now you find out that she is aggressive?
Pet her as much as possible.......give her toys to play with......if you know that she could harm somebody or other animals, why are taking her to them.......you have to take care of her as well as control her............When you need a dog, you get one........when you no longer need her, you try to ger rid of her...........i think you shouldn't get a dog at the first place if you can't take good care of her.............
I'm a owner of a 11yrs old GSD , female also aggresive to others but had never hurt anyone or anything til this day........She was aggresive even from the first day i brought her home....she was 2mths old then..........
Think first before you do anything!!!

I agree with "lovablelell" i know of an alsation that was much worse than yours. the girl who owned it was at the end of her tether!! she took it to a training class and they took her on. it's now a different dog altogether!! so there IS hope. my dog had a different problem and i took him to the same trainer, sorted!! try to find a reputable one, mine trained his own dogs for obedience at crufts . you could try dog magazines such as Your Dog, Dogs Today and Dogs Monthly they are very informative and you can take it from there. the problem can be sorted out so good luck bye for now
