We have different worldviews, histories, priorities, morals, cultures, etc. If one religion were to actually be adopted, it would have to be so watered down and dumbed down to appeal to the masses that it wouldn't be worth having. Besides that, who would decide on the tenets of this world religion? Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world---so would their concept of reincarnation and karma be included? Would the Buddhist concept of "nothingness" be included? Would the duty of making religious pilgrimages be included? Or would a deciding committee just choose one religion and force it onto everyone worldwide? How would they force it? What if the religion chosen was one that you aren't familiar with or didn't agree with---would you just say, "Oh well. It's the world's religion now so I'll just give up my beliefs and denounce my deity/ies and believe whatever they tell me to."? What main tenets of your faith would you be willing to denounce? Everyone would have to comprimise. Would you expect others to comprimise more of their core beliefs thatn you would? Only one third of the world believes in Christianity, so two-thirds of the tenets of the universal religion would be non-Christian theology. Is this what you are wanting?

The devil has counterfeit religion and he strifes for confusion. God is one God with one truth all through the Bible. Everybody cannot be right and we cannot unite under a banner that is against God's will. The Bible specifically states that the nations and other religions of the world will persecute the saints - Revelation 13 and 14 and Daniel 2 and 7. We are therefore armed with the word of God the Bible and it is our duty to test every doctrine a church teaches against the Bible to see if it matches up. We will never have unity - the Bible clearly states that it will get worst until the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Also, I believe if there is one world religion it would be the wrong one because the world's version of Christianity is different from God, He specifically says that we should be separate and apart from the world and not to love the world.

different religions reflect different cultures. religious wars have been fought over trying to enforce one religion. not everyone will be able to accept the same religion. too much margin for error. i personally happen to believe that right now, all gods that everyone prays to are the same gods. some people neglect the feminine, but it's a mans world. different cultures put different names and slightly different theologies on the same gods. but it's all the same at the root.

I think there have to be different religions just cause there is no way that you are ever going to make everyone on earth believe in the same thing when it comes to God. But I also believe that we should be able to push religion aside and accept that not everyone is going to share our views etc, and that's okay. People need to learn to live in harmony and peace, and realize that they are never going to be able to control what religions other people have faith in, and to just let it go.

I think it has something to do with Babylon and the seven nations or various languages. If we all shared the same belief who would we have to kill? Paganis was the first and the good ol' Christianity came along and it was "this is sin and that is bad. Get on your knees and mourn your religion and don't dance provacitavely. Wear clothes and be ashamed of yourself and your body for you are impure." BLAH!

It's the nature of this world.. Diversity. In fact, nothing is ever the same, and nothing is ever like any other. Variation is the rule in this universe. Nothing exactly equals anything else, it's actually one of the wonders of the world.
