Focus on what you're good at. I'm a musician so I organise charity gigs to raise money for good causes. Once you've worked out what you want to do, get as many people on board as possible. Contact a printer and see if they'll print the publicity for free in exchange for their name and contact details on the poster or in the program. Talk to work colleagues/ friends about donating raffle prizes or giving their time to help you out. Look around at the businesses in your area and see who would be prepared to chip in to make it a success. Remember, people will do almost anything for charity providing they believe in the cause, make sure you pick a charity you really believe in, then do what you can to raise money for it. I raised over £900 for the Tsunami Appeal by doing what I love doing - playing live music.
Do what you love, and make people want to pay you to do it for charity.

do a car wash or a bake sale or a talent show that people will want to buy tickets to.
if you tell people that the money is going to a good cause then ususally they will come no matter what event you are holding.
