Lasagne Noodles:
A very wide flat pasta that is available in ribbons that are approximately 10 to 13 inches long and vary in width from 2 to 3 ½ inches. Lasagne is also available in sheets that are generally 3 ½ x 5 inches or 4 x 6 inches. The ribbons or sheets are layered in a casserole between other ingredients to make a dish called lasagne. Lasagne noodles are available dried, fresh or in a precooked version, referred to as "no boil" lasagne. The precooked lasagne is redried after it is cooked and then packaged. The noodles are then ready for baking when taken from the package.

The thicker strands work well with a heavier sauce while the thin varieties are better with a more delicate sauce. Types:
Angel Hair, Capelli d'angelo, Barbina, Bigoli, Capellini, Chitarra, Ciriole, Fedelini, Fusilli lunghi, Spaghetti, Thin Spaghetti,
Spaghettini, Spaghettoni, Vermicelli, Vermicelloni.

=================================
LASAGNA:
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 pounds lean ground beef
2 cans (12.5 ounces each) tomatoes
1 can (15 ounces)
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
16 ounces lasagna
2 cups ricotta cheese
16 ounces sliced mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Chop onions and garlic. Heat oil in skillet; add onions, garlic, and ground beef. Mix together, breaking up beef, and cook until beef is lightly browned. Pour off excess fat. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until some of the liquid has evaporated and mixture is thickened to sauce consistency.
Meanwhile, cook lasagna in boiling salted water, following package directions. Cook until tender; drain thoroughly and rinse with cold water until cool enough to handle.
In a large baking pan (13x9x2-inch) spread 1/3 of the sauce in the bottom. Cover with a layer of lasagna, using about 1/2 of the noodles. Spread with half of the ricotta cheese, then top that with about 1/3 of the mozzarella slices; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Repeat with the next layer then top with remaining 1/3 of sauce.
Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly. Top with remaining cheese about halfway through baking. Cut in squares to serve.

You should put them in boiling water for just a couple of minutes so that they are pliable. After assembling and bakeing your lasagna in the over, the noodles will absord the water from your sauces and complete cooking. This makes for a firm lasagna too, never runny.

Lasagna noodles are flat and big. Look for them in the pasta section. I learned how to make it from the recipe on the box...good beginner recipe...easy way to learn. You end up w/a baked dish. They take like 10 or so minutes to cook. Then you assemble. Good luck:) I now make my own sauce and such and like baby says above...I'm not giving you my recipe either:)

Or you could make your own noodles - doesn't take that long, and tastes *so* much better.
(2 eggs, 200 g flour, mix together, roll into a ball, wrap in cellophane & let rest in the fridge for 30 min.
Roll out the dough to ca. 1/8 inch, cut to fit your pan.
load in your fillings & bake!)

Both are good for you, each fruit/vegetable has different vitamins. And so as more variety, as better. Vegetables have generally less sugar than fruits.
